Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

2014-04-12, 5:47 AM

There are almost 90 pages on this thread, and it's very clear that Lenovo have no solutions for fixing that issue. What it's most annoying is that Lenovo doesn't release an official statement to apologize for selling a high-end ultrabook (or whatever it is) which doesn't work properly.

It seems that the only solution it's to return my Lenovo Yoga 2 to the seller and buy something else.

Lenovo should offer a BIOS update and whitelist more wifi cards. Then, they should offer a free DO-IT yourself kits with a different wifi card.

What I think:

1. Yes (ETA: 2017)

2. No

3. Look at #2

I asume you ask because you having WiFi issues.

if you just got it I would exchange it until then sent you one that worked.

1. I guess Intel and Lenovo are working to improve the driver.

2. Nope

3. Who knows

you could upgrade the WiFi card to a dual band AC card youself if you so desired. Here's a video how to:

I upgraded my card, not because I was having issues, just because I wanted an AC card. I had no WiFi issues before or after the upgrade.

@RojasTKD,

I know I can upgrade the card by myself but I don't want to lose the warranty of the device. But thanks much for your answers.

You can easily swap the old card when you need servicing. The only way they find out that you went inside to your computer is when you scratch something or you tore off the Lenovo sticker that hides the screw needed to access the system board.

Our Y2P came from the factory with a broadcom card in it and we are still having the frequent drop outs. The Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga (different machine) came from the factory with a piece of junk software on it called LenovoECM Storage Connector that was wreaking havoc with wireless networks all over. Lenovo's solution at this point is to uninstall that program. However, I don't see that program on our system, so I'm wondering if there is another similar program causing a problem for us?
