Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

Hmm... I may take it in anyway.

It's playing through the speakers now, but as I listen to music, every so often there's a little touch of static like I've plugged something in, but I haven't actually touched anything.  Probably related to whatever sensor is off in the jack.

Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

i think i found a 'permanent' solution to the problem. because it is a hardware malfunction i used a 'contact' spray which i applied to the headphone plug. then i move the plug in and out of the headphone jack like 100 times (very fast, you do not have to go the whole way, no need to fully plug it in).

as fas as i can tell this solved the problem for me ... however, I don't know if this solution is permanent.

important: do NOT spray directly into the headphone jack!

maybe this helps somebody out there so that you do not have to RMA your yoga Smiley Happy

Hi Druid,

Any particular brand of spray you used? I've had to do the multiple plug ins a couple times now to get my machine back on track.

Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

I received my Yoga 2 Pro just 2 days ago and got the exact same problem. The built in PC speaker does not work. I got the pop up message indicating that a headphone was plugged when nothing was connected. I can hear audio when I plug in a head phone but after unplugging it the speaker does not work. It thinks that the headphones are still plugged in.

I wish it is a software/BIOS issue and hope I don't have to RMA my brand new laptop.

I am going to contact Lenovo support now.

Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

I had issues with this and static in the headphone line.  I uninstalled the realtek driver and havn't had any problems since.  It will revert back to the windows audio driver which works fine in my opinion.

Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

Tony try the multiple plug in technique that is mentioned above.  It definitely worked for me.  It's not permanent though.  Periodically my laptop will get confused again and I have to plug something in a couple times for it to catch up.  I'm not going to RMA mine but I AM going to take it to Best Buy to see if they can fix the part.

Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

@enyaa

hard to tell which brand to use outside germany. what i did use is this:

http://www.kontaktchemie.com/KOC/KOCproductdetail.csp?product=KONTAKT%20WL

(you can select 'english' as a language in the top right corner.

what you have to look for is some kind of 'contact cleaner spray'. it is not intended to 'make contact' but more to apply some kind of appropriate 'lube'. the idea is that this 'lube' finds its way to the malfunctioning switch.

so far i'm still without problems. Smiley Happy

Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

Thank you Ennyaa for the tip. It worked for me after I tried the plug in and out for about 30 times. I was about to RMA my PC because of this. I will try this for some more days and see how it goes.

After it started working I have rebooted the PC several times and also plugged in the headphone and removed it and all seems to work quite well now. I definitely looks like a mechinical porblem with the headphone jack and after excercising it several times looks like the sensor switch is working normally.

Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

Here's my solution (this has happened to me when I plug in the headphones and THEN wake up the computer - and I have no sound in my headphones):

Click on the speaker icon in the desktop. Mute, then unmute.

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
