Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

2014-09-22, 15:34 PM

All,

Taking a fresh look at these reports of Yoga audio issues and I'd like to identify a permanant fix.

A new Realtek driver 6.0.1.7058 was released on 8/12/14 at http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-pro-lenovo/downloads/DS037467

Can you chime in if you upgraded to this version and you're still having issues?

Thanks,

Hi Amy,

I did upgrade to this version, but the problem was not solved.

Thank you.

Hi Rhandy,

Yes, the sound issue is annoying (mine started after 10 months of the
purchase). Initially it would fade in/out but now the speakers are not
working anymore

About the resolution issue, it is not a video driver problem (the
resolution of the yoga 2 is simply very high and some softwares doesn't
play nicely with it).

It helps if you right click on your desktop, select screen resolution and
then click on "make text and other items larger or smaller". Change the
slider to Larger.

Even with this, some softwares doesn't look nice (mainly Java programs and
other old, non high-dpi compatible)

Hi,

I bought my yoga 2 pro a month ago. 2 days ago it decided that the headphones are always plugged in even if they aren't. So now no sound in speakers. Tried everything on this forum. Nothing solves this problem.  Clearly this is not a driver issue. THIS IS A DISGRACE!!!

Please provide a rapid solution to this problem, or compensate your clients for buying a defected product.

I am currently at a graduate school, and I WILL MAKE SURE everyone knows about this issue and take it into account in their decision making process of buying a new laptop.

Best,

Matan

Hi Amy,

I did the upgrade and it did NOT resolve the issue.

I'm amazed that lenovo is not recalling these laptops since it clearly is a hardware related issue: a crappy 3.5mm audio jack port.

What a joke this is.

Brand new computer. And can't listen to sounds.

I really had a hard time choosing a computer for school. Next time it's gonna be much easier:

simply AVOID LENOVO AT ALL COSTS

I found a weird solution to this problem but it seems to work for me...

I listen to music with heaadphones since the speakers don't work....but then I put the computer to sleep with the headphones still connected. Then, if turning the computer back on again in tablet mode with the headphones still conneccted the speakers work again ...

It's a bit messy but it seems to work!

Guys, the speaker issue is a hardware issue. There is a little ball switch used to detect the headphones. In your situation, the switch is stuck in the inward position. You must unjam the switch.

How many of you guys are out of warranty.
