Re: Yoga 2 pro sound problem

2014-09-10, 6:54 AM

Well, I'm kinda glad I found out I'm not the onlye one here. Got a brand new Yoga 2 Pro on the 1st of September and it turns out this thing got some quirks up it's sleeve. Not only do I experience the flickering, I lose the mouse from time to times, but I also experience the sound issue.

1) It seems that the laptop doesnt recoginze properly that the headphone is ejected thus still trying to put the audio through the 3.5mm

2) When I put the headphones in audio is gone completely, I therefore have to reboot or reset the driver.

Dear Lenovo,

€1300 for a laptop and these kinds of problems is just ridiculous. How is this 'fixable'

I found that when this happens I can:

1. Open the Realtek sound manager (the orange volume icon)

2. Unplug/Plug in the headphones

3. Go to speakers tab and use the mute button here to mute/unmute.

4. Headphones begin to work

This worked for me two days in a row.

I just got this laptop a few days ago.

If it works, I can make a hotkey that toggles it on or off.

tried the lubrification: didn't work ; tried all sorts of registry key combinations (including adding the jack detecion entry suggested as it wasn't there in the first place) : didn't work either :(

FYI attached are the regedit entries for the laptop ; any suggestion welcome! thxregedit 1.jpgregedit 2.jpg

By the way, not sure if Yoga 2 Pro specificly, or just Windows 8.1 bug.

But when I mute the sound, lock my machine, and then log back in my sound is enabled again.

For me at work this is quite a pain in the ass since when I log in my email client is going crazy with notifications of new emails.

Anyone else experiencing this behaviour?

Same problem here. Has anyone opened the laptop? can't the plug simply be replaced? The easiest would be to send it back to Lenovo but I can't afford it as it's my main working laptop...

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same problem (sound only works with headphone plugged in). No sound from speakers even when headphone is not connected.

I did the registry tweak, updated drivers: no luck.

I live in Brazil, but bought my Yoga 2 Pro in USA. Guess what? No support here (i need to travel back to USA just to fix this issue), absurd!

I returned mine and they fixed the problem . They didnt tell me any
hardware was replaced. Its so unprofessional of Lenovo to let this issue
fester. I cannot recommend a Lenovo computer to anyone.
