Sparking from charge cable now battery won't charge

2019-04-20, 3:07 AM

My Yoga 2 will no longer charge after I saw green and blue sparks from a crack in the charging cable. I have tried two replacement cables and therefore think there must be an internal problem. Is this fixable? I need it to run my business. Thank you.

I'm confused.  You used a damaged (cracked) charging cable so when it sparked, you tried another damaged charging cable?

The two replacement cables were fine.

Don't have a solution but similar issue.  Similar clean problem free environment, had my C330 for 3 months and smelled smoke while using plugged in.  Checked the plug and noticed what looked like a burn mark.  Needed to charge so plugged it back and and nothing happened...no smoke but also no charging.  After several 'discussions' with Lenovo in which they insisted the power cord was the issue, a new cord was sent over to me.  Which worked fine...until

Almost a year to the day later (and 3 days out of warranty now) plugged in to charge and there was a spark, then actual visible smoke.  The laptop is already dead because apparently when it had been plugged in prior to the spark and smoke, it was not charging.

Seems like more than a power cord issue with these computers.  something internally is getting fried...and it sounds like consistantly
