Stolen Lenovo Legion Laptop. Help

Hello,

First of all let me apologies if I'm posting this In the wrong place. I'm new to the forums .

2 months ago I bought a lenoo legion laptop, and 3 days ago my apartment was robbed. I already have contacted the police and given them the information from the laptops original box.

I have some questions  if anyone can help out or a Lenovo representative .

The police wanted the Mac address of my card , can I obtain it from Lenovo by providing my laptop information?

Also I've read in Google ( may be wrong ) that Lenovo can blacklist/lock in some way your laptop if it's stolen. I tried calling the number provided for my country but they told me they are only dealing with the warranty .

I know that the chance of the police locating it is low, but I want to try and help. I also heard that your ISP can give you your Mac address , but I'm being a little suspicious of them .

So to keep this short, if anyone can help in any way , it'll be appreciated alot!

Re: Stolen Lenovo Legion Laptop. Help

Welcome to the forum, even if under such circumstances.

Lenovo should have this information. Also, if you still have the carton that the notebook came in, this information, i.e. model, serial number, MAC address(es), should all be on a sticker on that box.

Unfortunately the likelihood that your notebook will be found is low. Still it's a good idea to provide as much identifying information as you can to the police. Sometimes they do recover stolen merchandise so anything you can give them that helps identify your notebook and establish that you're the legitimate owner will increase your chances.

if anyone can help in any way

1. If you carry contents insurance on your apartment, you should also contact the insurance company.

2. Some credit cards include loss/theft insurance on products paid for with their card. You should check to see if your card has this feature.

Re: Stolen Lenovo Legion Laptop. Help

Hi Daniel872

Greetings.

In addition, MAC id are not traceable without doing it physically similar to this discussion.

You can try contacting your ISP for possibility of recent MAC address history if available or in use.

The information like serial number can not be used much for tracking the lost laptop and without tracing software and technology activated. You may however call in technical support for them to tag the serial number as stolen device so that you may call back in to check if anyone called in using the same serial number. Keep the original box and receipt for future use and ownership proof.

Hope this helps too.

Regards
