Struggling to choose the windows or android version.

So i want to buy the yoga book this fall, but i'm struggling between the android and windows version.

Reason i want it with windows: Can use any programs/games i want (even full sized games like skyrim at around 30 fps with the right tweaking of the ini's), can install games and apps/programs to the sdcard with ease just like a normal hdd/ssd.

Reason i want the android version: Smaller OS space consumption, less ram usage, less demanding apps/lighter OS hardware utilization and less ram consumption to have more tabs in chrome/more stuff in the photo editing/drawing without much lag.

But the problem with android is the finnicky file manager as it needs permission for this and that to move stuff back and forth between the internal and external, and you can't install apps directly onto the sdcard without root access, which again breaks the waranty.

So really struggling what to choose.

And also, does the windows version come with the same editing and productivity apps/programs as the android version have? Cause my GF has the android version, and i really like the "artrage" app that came with it, and i just checked with artrage for windows with a 75 bucks price. Is that program for example included with the windows version?

Re: Struggling to choose the windows or android version.

Hello Duckers

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

I would imagine both versions come with different pre installed software on them, so not sure about what would be the preinstalled ones on Windows, hopefully an owner will be able to confirm this.

You will likely not get much use out of the unit gaming wise, as pressing more than 2 keys is not possible I believe, as simply is not designed for it, external KB might be able to bypass that.

Otherwise, I think if you want more freedom with the unit, then you should probably go with the Windows version. However, the Win version does not have the feature of, when the unit is closed, and you are taking notes, that will not register on the unit, this is only available for the Android version as far as I know.

Hope this has been some help, I am considering investing in this unit as well, might just wait for the next generation of this idea really, see where it gets them.

Let us know how you get on.

Re: Struggling to choose the windows or android version.

YEah. I would not play on it with M&K, but with either my current xbox one controller with cable to the F-usb to Mmicro usb or buy the bluetooth X1s controller if i were to install a few small/big but tweaked games onto it.

Yeah. If i were to take notes, i would open it and use one note if i were to choose the windows version.

And yeah, kinda wanna wait aswell, but since there's no news of a "yoga book 2" with a much better processor, then i might just get the current one.
