ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 with Yoga Pro 2

2021-01-07, 16:24 PM

My main laptop is a Thinkpad P53s Type 20N6, but is currently at the shop for repairs. In the meantime I am using my old Yoga Pro 2. I have connected the ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2, but it only works as a USB Hub. I am trying to get to work the HDMI and Display ports, but I get the message "Display connection might be limited" on Windows 10. The Ethernet port also does not work. Since the Yoga has no USB-C port, I used a USB-A to USB-C cable to the dock. I tried installing the driver, but it's the same.

Welcome to the Community Forums @Rick131 !

Glad to have you here, and apologies for the delayed response!

Based on the message that you are getting, this may seem to be a hardware limitation with the Yoga Pro 2 laptop itself since the docking station that you are plugging to the machine itself is only compatible with Think devices that can be seen here.

As for the USB-A to USB-C adapter that you're using, it would be advisable to get in touch with the cable manufacturer itself to check its compatibility with the Yoga Pro 2 laptop.

Upon checking through page 8 of the Yoga Pro 2's User Guide, you can only connect an external monitor into it by using an HDMI cable.

Hope this helps you out.

Thanks,

Adriel_lenovo
