Touchpad doesn't work, no mouse pointer; Yoga 900 Windows 10

Hi, This has happened to me before, a while ago, and am afraid I don't remember how it was fixed before...But recently my mouse pointer disappeared again and the touchpad doesn't do anything. When I click Ctrl, I see where the mouse pointer should be, but it doesn't reapear. Selecting F6 does nothing. I've googled and scanned the forums, but all proposed solutions don't work. Help?

Thanks!

Re: Touchpad doesn't work, no mouse pointer; Yoga 900 Windows 10

Hello Nailund,

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Have you tried these steps in this forum post?

Does this also happen if you plug in an external mouse?

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

I did see that post and did do those steps. No, it did not work.

I do not use a physical mouse. Just the touchpad.

My pointer and touchpad began working just recently, however. No clue as to why.

Re: Touchpad doesn't work, no mouse pointer; Yoga 900 Windows 10

Addition to Krakken,

Did the laptop get contact with liquids in the past?

Please check in BIOS under Congig - Mouse/Keyboard, whether trackpoint and touchpad are set to "automatic".

If that doesn’t work, try the below :

  1. Disable "hide pointer while typing" under Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse > Pointer Options Tab and enable "Show location of pointer when i press CTRL key"

  - Link to picture

  1. Uninstall the Touchpad Driver (ELAN or Synaptics) under Control Panel > Programs and reboot. Upon logging back in, Windows will use a generic touchpad driver. Try to observe the mouse pointer behavior and observe (you can always re-install the touchpad driver by navigating to D:\Drivers\Touchpad or by downloading the driver from the lenovo website).

  1. Boot in Safe Mode with Networkingand observe the mouse pointer behavior. If all goes well, perform a clean boot and observe. If same problem, perform a System Restorein safe mode to undo any possible updates that was installed on the system (ensure that you make a backup copy of your files).

Update us how it goes.

Re: Touchpad doesn't work, no mouse pointer; Yoga 900 Windows 10

Thank you. The laptop didn't have water spilled on it. At least that I'm aware of.

Earlier I had tried:
Disable "hide pointer while typing" under Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse > Pointer Options Tab and enable "Show location of pointer when i press CTRL key"

That did not work.

If/when the pointer/touchpad stops again (this wasn't the first time), I'll try the other possibilities above.

Thanks!

Re: Touchpad doesn't work, no mouse pointer; Yoga 900 Windows 10

I have been having the same problem regularly for about 4 months. The solution I use is to keep reinstalling the mouse drivers from the lenovo site and restarting. I also carry around a usb mouse. I have searched forums and don't think there is a permanent solution.

This is a significant issue but Lenovo don't care to address it.

The mouse isn't working and I just bought it today? I wasted about 1000 dollars on garbage... Wow I'm really impressed Lenovo, now I need to return this laptop and buy a Mac because at least they can make a decent track pad, this laptop is a JOKE.

Re: Touchpad doesn't work, no mouse pointer; Yoga 900 Windows 10

I have the same problem. touchpad is not working. when I go to the "device manager", there is not any section about "mouse or touchpad". Moreover I tried to enable the touchpad but there is only "mouse" setting and not "touchpad" in "setting". Is there anyone can solve this problem.

thanks.

Re: Touchpad doesn't work, no mouse pointer; Yoga 900 Windows 10

I've been searching for a solution for this. Lenovo will not provide any response. I've tried posting on this forum and calling. The only thing you can do is:

1. Buy an external mouse.

2. Never buy a Lenovo product again.
