Tune up for gaming, yoga 720 (81C3005QUS)

hello,

spec of my laptop

i7 8th gen

16gb ram

1TB ssd

4k UHD display

intel 620 graphics

i play starcraft 2, lengency of void. now my settings are at low (the lowest setting). It is playable but not enjoyable. Could anyone help me to tune up my pc performance for gaming?

Is tuning up to 4GHz possible?

""Lenovo has put a quad-core Intel Core i7-8550U (Kaby Lake) CPU inside the Yoga. This ULV model (TDP: 15 watts) runs with a base clock of 1.8 GHz, which can be boosted up to 4 GHz."

The issue here is not the CPU, but the GPU (the Intel Graphics HD 620). What screen resolution do you have the game set to use?

That's a whole lot of pixels to push for a GPU like that. Try setting it to 1920x1080 and see what kind of framerate you get.

No I'm not, but I've been playing PC games since the mid-90s. Screen resolution is one of your biggest factors in performance and should be the first thing to change. You might need to epxerement a bit, 1920x1080 is a good place to start.

thanks, i have been trying different settings in the game to figure out the best one. i will let you know my results, so far so good. i used one level above fhd, which is qhd. and turned all the graphics settings to low, left the ones that using cpu to medium.

First run a third party bench test on your 620 graphics card, it will probably fail. That may be part of the gaming issue, also the Kaby Lake Processors are usually not able to be over clocked.

Use a third party bench test to make sure your Graphics 620 is working properly, Intell provides one.

Run a third party bench test of your Inel 620 Graphics, Intel provides one. This is probably your problem.
