I sent my computer away.... They "fixed" it lasted a week, broke again..... I wouldn't hold your hopes high on the issue getting resolved.... had the computer for less than 6 months and it's about to go another 30 days in the repaid center with no outcome...

Re: USB ports on Yoga 3 Pro not working

2015-08-06, 16:09 PM

Hello to everyone, today all the USB ports stopped working, the do not recognize anything I connect, do not power anything I connect, they are just dead.

I recently updated to bios 50, so it might be that.

I tried to re-enable usb in the bios, but there is no reference to USB in the bios except boot from bios (something that does not work anyway).

I did a factory reset, but it did not work

I am royally pissed off as an over 1k euro brick is **bleep** expensive and with no chance to connect anything whatsoever this is not a laptop, is just a **bleep** expensive brick.

The fact that is not 3 yet months old does not help either.

I read that it might be a bios problem, if this is the case, please provide a link to get the previous version.

Re: USB ports on Yoga 3 Pro not working - SOLVED

All - I had the same symptoms as are listed here -- all USB ports suddenly not working, as of today August 13.  Updated to bios version 50 and the problem was solved.

SOLUTION

For if BIOS didn't work (all the answers seem stemed around that and it just didn't work for me).

After an update my touch screen and USB ports stopped responding, turns out my UBS Controllers where somehow disabled. This happened before with windows 8 and then again with windows 10 so I wouldn't say it's a 'permanent' but I didn't encounter the problem again until I was installing drivers and an update occured on the restart.

I went to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers > UBS Root Hub (xHCL), and then enabled it, all good after that.

Hope it worked for y'all!

I solved this on my Yoga 3 (not a pro, so it could be entirely different) by merely going to the Control Panel, selecting Device Manager, selecting USB Root Hub under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and enabling the USB Root Hub. Hopefully the solution can be that simple rather than going into the BIOS menu.

This is how I fixed it. Go to http://support.lenovo.com. Use the Service Bridge to update the Bios.

You might need the log in and download and install the service bridge for connection. The first one is the Bios firmware upddat. I only download the file (a6cn56ww.exe), I did not read the instruction. But it works. Download the file , click it twice and it run and just click OK or Next. Finally it will ask to reboot. Just click finish and reboot. The machine reboot and the USB ports come back after log in.

This is the link you may download the file without all log in and installation service bridge.

Thanks to all those above providing various solutions.

Special thanks to jason.I solved my issue with the BIOS update. Scratched my head for a few days with no results. Took less than 10 minutes with this solution.
