USB recovery key

I got the message "bootmgr missing" so I downloaded the files to make a usb recovery key.

The product recovery process has been running over 12 hours. The is a message to "be patient", but this seems like way too much time.

 

Looking for any direction to recover my laptop.

What type of Lenovo device are you using?

Can you please provide its MTM (machine type-model) number for us to check its specifications?

 

It does have a format of 8********S and can be usually seen through the device's label/sticker or packaging.

I restarted the process. It appears to be stuck in the same place. This is discouraging.

Thanks for providing your device's details @ jillmobley!

 

Please press the Novo button that's located in the left-side view of the Yoga 720 laptop and see if you can access the Novo Button Menu.

Make sure that the Yoga 720 is completely turned OFF before pressing the button, please see pages 10 and 11 of your device's User Guide to see where it is exactly located.

 

Should that work, you may proceed in performing a System Recovery or a factory reset from there to see if it will allow you to be brought back to the main screen.

Please note that this step will erase all data that's stored in the device.

 

Update us how it goes.

I chose recovery which took me to the screen where I was before when I plugged in the recovery usb. I have started that process again.

The process gets almost to the end, then gets hung up. I have turned it off. I am very hopeful you can suggest another option.

Please click on this link and see if you can download the Recovery Media file for your Yoga 720 laptop.

Make sure to use your Lenovo ID account as well (to sign-in) or create one instead (if you don't have a Lenovo ID account yet) to download the file successfully and save it to a USB flash drive.

 

Should that still didn't worked, it would be advisable to have the Yoga 720 laptop be brought to any local service providers near your area for them to check the machine if there's a possible hardware concern that might require repairs for it to work/function properly again.

 

Make sure to contact them first to inquire about their store and repair policy when it comes to out of warranty devices.

Thank you for the reply. That is where I got the recovery media. I am guessing it needs a new hard drive.
