Re: Upgrade Yoga 520 with HDD to SSD?

What's DOS? I didn't write it. How can we change it? I know DOS.

Oh, one more thing, with the Yoga 520 has single notch for SSD slot, do they sell Intel Optane with single notch (PCIe SSD) slot?

Re: Upgrade Yoga 520 with HDD to SSD?

Opa não tentei instalar pois ainda esta na garantia fiquei com receio de abrir para ver se existe um slot para isso.

Oops I did not try to install because it was still under warranty I was afraid to open to see if there is a slot for this.

Re: Upgrade Yoga 520 with HDD to SSD?

Lenovo você pode abrir que não perde a garantia.
Passando os 7 dias de direito a arrependimento vou abrir pra ver ..vou pesquisar mais até lá e ver se dar certo. Qualquer coisa te aviso aqui

Lenovo you can open that does not lose the warranty.
Passing the 7 days of right to repentance I will open to see .. I will search more there and see if it works. Anything warns you here.

Re: Upgrade Yoga 520 with HDD to SSD?

Hey satriyo,

My previous Yoga (Yoga 2 pro 13) had this nice ad-video that showed how cool the Yoga was.. It explained nicely the laptop-tent-tablet modes... I remember I showed them always to anyone asking me how the Yoga worked...

This Yoga works the same. When you flıp the screen further than 90 degrees, the keyboard/touchpad turns off. All the way until 360 degrees.

The snail thing really had to do with the main hard disk. Since I use the SSD I have a nice fast toy. It is not the OS that was to blame.... but you are right.. ıf you want a fast OS, you should try installing Windows 95 on your Yoga... Even better.. You should try DOS... Remember DOS?

:-D

İn the second message of this thread sclexman mentions that Optane memory is available for this Yoga. You might want to check it out.

Re: Upgrade Yoga 520 with HDD to SSD?

Hi, I just bought a Yoga 520 -14IKB with only 128GB SSD and 4GB of memory.
I opened it to check for the presence of the SATA 3 slot in order to control an HDD or SSD and install it.
Since, it no longer restarts, no more power LED either when I plug power.
I did not put the Yoga mode "transport" before opening it as it is recommended (FN + S + V), I just gently open the bottom cover, and removed the drawer HDD sata 3 and put everything back in place.
Do you know if Yoga 520 has a security or other tip that prevents it from restarting after opening?

Re: Upgrade Yoga 520 with HDD to SSD?

Hı VerOlivier,

I did open my Yoga 520-14IKB as well... Several times. I had no such problems.

Many others did the same without troubles. I think it must be some other problem.

Good luck with it.

Re: Upgrade Yoga 520 with HDD to SSD?

Hello Giovann and Cristiano82vb,

I think all the motherboards of the Yoga 520 have a slot for sata 3 hard disk and a e-sata m2 ssd.

It ıs possible to use both the hard dısk and the ssd. In this case you should of course install your os to the ssd and boot from the ssd.

There are even options even if there was no ssd slot in your Yoga 520. You can use something like this: http://www.microsatacables.com/sata-iii-to-m2-ssd-adapter-device-sleep-mode-devslp-m2-devslp-pcb
