Video Driver Update for Yoga 900

2017-07-22, 11:20 AM

Intel just released a new version for the HD 520 graphics adaptor. Given that the current driver version available for the Yoga 900 is rather old, I am asking myself when this version will be released?

Alternatively, is there a way to install the official driver pack from Intel?

Hi Prebhansh

Thanks for your fast reply! I had the same idea. However, this does not work.

I have downloaded the latest driver from Intel (version 15.46, see screenshot). But the installation stops with an error message saying that the driver is not validated for my Yoga (see attached screenshot).

Is there a way to get around this error message?

Regards

J

Well, download the zip file of the driver & then extract it in your system. Once done with this follow the steps given below:

  • Go to Device Manager
  • In "Display Adapters" find "Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 "
  • Right click on it and go to "Properties"
    Now new window should appear.

  • Click "Driver" tab
  • Then click "Update Driver..." button.
    A new window will appear.

  • Now click on "Browse my computer for driver software"
  • It's will show you next page.
WARNING: DO NOT click on "Browse" here! Ignore this form!

  • Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  • In this window click on "Have Disk..." button.
A window pop's up to find the driver

  • Navigate to the extracted driver folder
  • Go to the "Graphics" sub-folder
  • Click on the igdlh64.inf (or igdlh32.inf if you have 32-bit OS)
It's should gone back to last window with only one driver to choose from & then select nect to install the driver.

Once you are done with above steps run the Setup.exe from the zip file & update us how it goes.

Re: Video Driver Update for Yoga 900

Hey, with your instructions i was able to install the new driver.

I want to solve an issue that my external connected monitor (connected with USB-C to HDMI Adapter) sometimes has no picture after boot of Windows 10 x64.

All is working fine with new driver except the brightness/colors of the external monitor is to bright!

Its hard to describe -> seems there is some profile missing or some difference to the lenovo driver.

Black is not black, its gray. Hope you understand what il mean :smileyhappy:

Tried the following:

  • Calibrate the monitor with the intel control panel -> no success
  • Calibrate it with the windows display adapter settings -> no success
  • Calibrate the monitor with its OSDs -> no success

Gone now back to the original old lenovo driver because of this.

Any hints?

Lenovo, please UPDATE the driver with your changes, its now over an year old!!!!!!!!!

thx

I think I recognise your problem; are you seeing a high contrast image that looks awful?

The monitor is trying to do some image processing and is making a pig's ear of it!

If it's a Samsung monitor, use the monitor remote to open the menu, and rename the HDMI source to the name that contains "PC". This should turn off the monitor image processing and display what was intended - the image being output by your computer. It worked for me.

If not a Samsung monitor and you don't have an option to turn off pesky monitor image processing, then I suggest that you try googleing "rename hdmi pc" or "hdmi monitor pc overscan" for scooby clues for a solution.

thx for your answer, no thats not what ill meant.

When i am using the original over year old lenovo yoga 900 vga driver from the homepage the colors on my external monitor are OK! Sadly the connected USB-C to HDMI adapter isnt sometimes recognized. That ill want to try to fix with a newer driver. Sadly, lenovo didn't supply a newer driver so i have tried the july release from intel website. All is working except my external monitor (connected with hdmi) has a yellowish touch and black isnt black, its gray. i have tried several things in the monitor menu, widows color management and so on .... nothing seems to help.

Downgrading to the older driver solves the yellowish issue but the USB-C to HDMI adapter (= external monitor) isnt sometimes recognized after reboot, standby...

Ah well. Your problem is outside my knowledge so I'm afraid I can't make any suggestions.
