WIll this blow up my laptop?

2019-12-28, 6:13 AM
Long story short the 135 watt charger that came with my 15 inch S740 is way too bulky and i'm looking for something more versatile to use while on the go.

Unfortunately my laptop doesn't support USB-C power delivery. Only the 14 inch S740 supports power delivery through USB-C.

But i figured that i could potentially try to bypass this restriction and use a 96 Watt USB-C power adapter if i combine it with the Lenovo official USB-C to Slim-tip adapter so i can connect it normally to my main charging port?

Is this a good idea or will i end up frying my laptop?

After reading the adapter description, it seems like it should work.

You'll definitely need the correct power adapter on the input side. Usually, a higher-than-needed watt adapter doesn't matter - the system will just draw up to it's maximum, but there are other potential compatibility issues. I would contact Lenovo support on this to be sure.
