Why device manager shows 2 display adapter's on Yoga 3 and Win 10?

I have Yoga 3 14", i both it last yearwith win 8 and got automatic upgrade to Windows 10.

I see in device manager 2 display adapters. One Nvidia and the second Intel 5500.

I do see in bios option to set only to integrated, witch removes the NVIDIA recognition from windows, but second option descrite shows both off them.

Why cant i for to use only NVIDAI, and why is it needed to have 2 adapters?

Re: Why device manager shows 2 display adapter's on Yoga 3 and Win 10?

Hi Davis,

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

As I understand that you have query Display Adapters in your Yoga 3, the system is shipped with both integrated & dedicated GPU's so thats the main reason its reflecting in Device Manager.

The Intel HD 5500 is the most important graphics processing unit for laptops, integrated in the popular Intel Core series processors.

Sadly there is no option in BIOS to disable it. But you can disable it from Device Manager but disabling it will cause some programs & features to unresponsive for say Brightness will not be adjusted.

And choosing the Discrete option in BIOS will make sure that system will use discrete card as per the user requirement or when the apps demands.

Hope the above information helped you.
