Windows 10 Creator Update causing keyboard issues

The Windows Creators update installed itself on my machine on the 5th of June. I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 14 80JH. Since then the keyboard has been missing significant numbers of letters when I type - exceptionally annoying. Checking the event log for the machine it seems that the keyboard was "migrated" on the 5th, I assume as part of the update. No solutions so far found on the web... I have a second machine (a Dell) and will be sure to NOT upgrade to the Creators update until I am confident. Can anyone explain how to fix this? Thanks...

Re: Windows 10 Creator Update causing keyboard issues

Hello SeanNP

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Windows 10 Creator Update causing keyboard issues

Difficult to tell if it is a full solution - it seems like a partial one. The keyboard seems more responsive at the moment, but not at all times. One of the interesting things though is that it seems to get better or worse depending on how long the machine has been on and what app I'm using. The most frustrating time is when I am entering passwords (which I normally do quite quickly) when letters get missed but as you don't see them unless you check by clicking the "eye" (and you can't always do that) you don't know they've been missed!

At present fine... but the fact that the issue started the instant that the Creator update installed leads me to suspect that it is a partial solution. One of the events logged in device manager at the time of the Creator updtae was "keyboard successfully migrated" - might that have anything to do with it? Thank you

Hello SeanNP

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

At least we`re getting somewhere Smiley Very Happy, try to download the Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Yes, I have done this although the chipset seems to be from 2015? sadly no effect - it has taken me well over a minute to type this short reply

Re: Windows 10 Creator Update causing keyboard issues

I have been having this issue as well since the win10 creators update. Only difference being that I am using a Lenovo Y580 laptop. It only gets bad for me when it sleeps. If I restart the laptop it does just fine, but the minute it goes to sleep and wakes back up i have significant unresponsive times on the keyboard. the keystrokes aren't missed, they just take forever showing up.

Re: Windows 10 Creator Update causing keyboard issues

The only method that I have found is to go back to the last version of Win 10 - my system now works perfectly.
