Windows 10 Upgrade - No connections are available

2015-07-29, 19:56 PM
Lenovo Yoga 2 13
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 today and I cannot connect to the Internet. The network icon has a red cross and hovering over this icon indicates 'Not connected - No connections are available'. When attempting to 'Set up a new connection or network', a dialogue box reading 'Windows did not detect any networking hardware' is displayed. Attempting to 'Change adaptor settings' links to an empty folder, this seems quite suspect...

The network adapter listed in task manager is a Realtek RTL8723BE Wirelesa LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC. There are no conflicts/issues and 'This device is working properly'. I have downloaded the latest drivers (version 2023.8.313.2015 dated 17/04/2015) and restarted but to no avail. I have also tried to uninstall the adaptor and restart but again, to no avail.

I would appreciate any help you can provide on this issue.

Thanks,
Jordan

Could you use ethernet to connect to the internet?

Could you please go to Control Panel > Device Manager > Network adapters

and see what is displayed there. If possible, please post a screenshot.

For Windows 10, I think you have the wrong drivers.

Check these out (Realtek) -

and for the Intel WLAN

This can sometimes happen if the "software switch" or "hardware switch" is set to off. Does your bluetooth work as well? If not, I believe the F7 key turns on and off Airplane Mode on your unit.

Installed the new driver (Realtek version 2023.10.415.2015) as suggested and restarted but still unable to connect. I am able to use Bluetooth and the laptop is not in Airplane mode.

Unsure what it means in the device properties by 'Device PCI xxx requires further installation'? Manually installing the driver software results in the system hanging and producing the message, 'Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. This operation returned because the timeout period expired'.

A number of different models being noted in the Windows 10 forum as losing wifi after the Windows 10 upgrade:
