Windows Installer Modules Worker is eating 100% cpu

2013-07-07, 13:46 PM

What is Windows Installer Modules Worker and why is eating 100% cpu when my Yoga is in idle? Its making Yoga very loud and hot. I disabled automatic updates, but this process is still killing my Yoga. I found on net some windows patch for this, but I already have it.

hi szy,

You're probably referring to the microsoft patch below:

A servicing stack update is available for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 (see issue #1)

If you have already installed the patch above, can you try to:

1. Press the Windows Key+R > type services.msc

2. On the list of services, double click on Windows Update and click Stop

3. On startup type, change it to disabled then reboot the system and observe

Let me know your findings,
