OS: Windows 10.
Periodically my screen will completely turn and off. Note, this is not the auto-brightness adjustment, rather the screen is completely blacking out and turning back on over and over again. I can get it to stop by closing it and reopening it, but this is quite concerning. Is this a common problem and is there a known fix for it?

By "screen turning on and off" you mean a flickering which may repeat up to 3 or 4 times and take max. 8 to 10 seconds?
If yes -> this is caused by the panel self refresh option. You can completely switch of this function in the Control Panel of the Intel Graphics driver.
The option can be found in the Energy options for battery mode.
Note that the deactivation of this option will increase power consumption of GPU/display and hence decrease the duration on battery (I think the difference can be up to 1 hour ).
I have it also disabled because the flickering is really annoying.
