YOGA 2 Won't Turn On

So about 6 months ago (i've had my yoga 2 for about a year and a half?) my Yoga 2 wouldn't turn on so I took it to geek squad. They pretty much just held the power button down for a minute or so and it turned back on. Ever since I have to hold the button down for at least 30 seconds to turn the laptop on at all. Today, out of the blue (mind you, my entire work and livelihood is on this laptop), it turns off and will NOT turn on, no matter what I do. Pressing it down in 1 second intervals, holding the button down, nothing. I have read through teh forums and have found no solutions. The power button light (or any lights at all) does not turn on at any point in this process. The laptop was working fine (sans the holding down the power button thing)

Re: YOGA 2 Won't Turn On

Hello Chlsgo

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

I hope you started backing up your data when the issues started happening...

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

If these steps do not work I would recommend, that you call your local Lenovo support line for a possible service. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: YOGA 2 Won't Turn On

because the battery is internal I cannot do a full static discharge (tried all other similar methods) or removal of battery. Tried lenovo support and because I dont subscribe to their monthly whatever 20 dollar thing, this was the only support they offered  me (chatrooms)

Re: YOGA 2 Won't Turn On

Nope, i tried every suggested method I could find online and absolutely nothing worked. Lenovo only has a paid support line, but it's clearly an issue i'd have to send the thing away to fix and I just can't afford the time not working/money

You can only do those things if you subscribe to their service for 20 dollars a month.
