YOGA 500 - automatic BIOS update

2016-04-09, 9:33 AM

After restarting my Yoga 500-15ISK (win10 64bit) came black screen with text - Phoenix SCT flash for shell v2.33.0.0 build 150904
and accomplished with the automatic bios update.

Where can I find some informations about bios version changes, what is new, what is fixed?

Re: YOGA 500 - automatic BIOS update

Good to see that I am not the only one.

It appears that this update was forced by windows update. Check on update history:

Lenovo Ltd. driver update for Lenovo System Firware V 001

Even the word firmware is mispelled. Should microsoft force bios updates like that???

On "more info", there is no information at the moment...

1)Can anyone notice any changes until we have a changelog?

2)On system information bios reports:

BIOS Version/Date LENOVO D3CN27WW, 28/10/2015

SMBIOS Version 2.8

Embedded Controller Version 1.23

So basically what were the previous versions? Does anyone have this information before getting the update?

After this automatic update, I have experienced the problem of getting a black screen when attempting to wake up my system from sleep. Anybody else experiencing this?

It's a known problem with Windows 10. I have been experiencing it even before the BIOS update.

Tried updating my display drivers, tried changing my power settings, nothing worked.

I'm going to probably call my local warranty support today.

After the update in UEFI settings system memory shows as 0MB...

Can you confirm that the same happens to your laptop as well?

Press the Novo key when the laptop is shut off and enter BIOS. It is at the first tab as you enter.

HWiNFO64 shows after update this informations about BIOS

BIOS Version: D3CN27WW

BIOS Release Date: 10/28/2015

System BIOS Version: 1.27

Embedded Controller Firmware Version: 1.23

and here is photos from BIOS before/after update, yes, now there is System Memory as 0 MB -> http://imgur.com/EVvCA8X

for now I didn't see any differences/changes from old version, noisy fan speed behavior with cpu activity is still there..

@chapapak  Where is information about SMBIOS Version 2.8?
