YOGA 710 15IKB SSD NVMeSupport

2019-02-15, 10:50 AM

Hello,

My laptop is Yoga 71015IKB, it came with 256GB LITEON CV3-8D256 SSD. Now i want to upgrade it with 512GB but in confusion what SSD to take. The preferred one is Samsung 970 Pro or Evo series. Can you please help to identify what my motherboard supports ragarding SSDs? Does it support NVMe and if yes what is the maximum speed?

Thanks,

Artur

If I read the specs, correctly, your laptop doesn't support NVMe. You'll need a SATA M.2 drive such as the ones you've listed.

Thanks for the response Doctordon,

If you mean the Samsung 970 Pro or Evo they are both NVMe with M.2. I've done a huge research in order to find my motherboard specs but there is no results for me. Can you please share it with me or the laptop specs as you said?

Thanks in advance ,

Artur

As   stated, your laptop supports a SATA m.2 SSD, not PCIe/NVMe.  As with most Lenovo laptops, the specs can be found via the PSREF page:  Personal Systems Reference (PSREF)

http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Lenovo%20Tablets%20_%20Convertibles/Yoga%20710%20(15_)/Yoga_710_15_platform_specifications.pdf

M.2 SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s

This question might be self explanatory but i have the same laptop and its says for memory,16 gb max, so does that mean i wont be able to install a 32 gb ram? also i see that the i7 model has an nvidia graphics card. If i wanted to upgrade mine to an nvidia, could i? would it have to be the  NVIDIA GeForce 940MX, 2GB memory or could i get a newer one?
