I havve searched and find no solution. Periodically the on board keyboard stops functioning in the middle of typing. Solution is reboot the laptop and back in business.

Been there a number of times.
Some things to check. First, and we all say this, update all your drivers and BIOS. Let's just make sure that's ALL up to date. Everything.
If it's still happening, check two things: Event Viewer System logs. Look for errors and let us know what they are. Second, use Task Manager to see if something's eating up resources that would overwhem the keystroke buffer. The latter has been my problem a number of times.
