Use Lenovo Vantage (found at the Windows Store since the 920 isn't shipping with it, yet) and let it look for driver updates and install them, if necessary.

If that fails, you might have to uninstall the touchpad from Device Manager and reboot. Windows should see it and install the appropriate drivers for it.

If you've already reinstalled Windows, then a System Restore probably won't help as there's no previous state to restore it TO. Though it might let you roll back to before the latest WIndows Update.

FWIW, my 920 shows an entry in Device Manager for "HID-Compliant touch pad." Yours doesn't. The driver version I show for the same 12C entry as yours is 10.0.16299.15

I uninstalled the faulty driver and tried Vantage, it says everything is ok and no updates are available. Windows Update are already installed and still the touchpad is a no show. In Lenovo support the TouchPad Driver is not available....

No idea what to do next.....

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem. I have reached out to ther Tech Support after 2 hours of trying everything, it still did not fix. They suggested I should take it in to Geek Squad and they did a clean format of windows and after updating the Touchpad still not working.

Any help would be great, this is an important part of laptop that is needed on daily bases.

Cheers,

Do you see an entry for the touchpad in Device Manager?

You say you've "tried everything." It'd help if you'd list exactly what you HAVE tried so we're not giving you redundant advice.

Thanks for the ply. To be clear I have tried the following:

  • uninstall/install I2CHID driver (it has an exclamation icon, with not able to connect)
  • diable/enable driver
  • download original .sys files and replace the windows system32 files.
  • clean format from bios (with Lenova tech support guiding me through the prcoess)
  • full reinstall of windows 10 (clean install)

Problem remains. My guess is that it has something to do with the bios update as everything used to work before the update. I can't seem to find the original bios or downgrade the current bios. Clean install of windows did not fix the problem.

Hi everybody,

This is what worked in my case:

Step 1: rolled back (should enable this option in BIOS in advance) to the previous version of BIOS (5NCN38WW)

--> no effect, no touchpad driver name showing in the Device Manager list, LenovoVantage still states the new version of BIOS (5NCN41WW) as a current!!

Step 2: upgraded once again "back" to the new (5NCN41WW)

-->Touchpad works! BUT still, there's no any trace of expected driver name on the Device Manager list.

Hate that random way of solving a problem, but at least it helped
