YOGA C940 15IRH - Integrated Pen Not Working (never worked)

Am I this unlucky? Purchased my laptop a week or so ago. I went through the initial Windows setup and all no problem. The first thing I did when I logged on to windows was to try the pen... and to my surprise, didn’t work. Seated it back in its garage for about 10 minutes, and yet again, didn’t work! Here’s what I did: 1. Install latest windows updates 2. Installed latest Wacom pen driver (not sure if it was relevant) 3. Seated and reseated Pen 7 times and nothing. 4. Called tech support, troubleshooted with them, sent me a new pen by mail. And of course, “charged” it and still doesn’t work. Things to note: CPU: i9 Display: 4K (touch screen works perfectly) SSD: 2TB One thing I noticed: when I opened up the Lenovo Pen Settings, the pen that comes up is NOT the correct pen! It doesn’t look like the one that comes with the C940! It looks more like the Active Len 2. Anyway, I’m not sure what the problem is, but I’m not sure it’s a pen problem, but more of a charging problem; I don’t think the pens charge... the pins are there and no obstruction... It could also be something else in the display? I’ve deserted the pc to factory, and checked to see the Lenovo Pen Settings see if it detected the actual integrated pen that comes with the C940. But it’s not... Any ideas?

Have you tried the Lenovo Hardware Diagnostic software? You can download it on the Lenovo Support Site. Use The QR Code on the Sticker next to the Touchpad.

Yes I have; I forgot to mention I ran all diagnostics and every single one of them passed. Great tool by the way... but wish it had found the issue...

I had exactly the same problem, pen was working for about 1 month then it stopped working.  Couldn't find any mention of a fix but after poking around I found some advanced settings hidden away that resets the pen driver.  Resetting and Deleting the Pen Driver within advanced settings fixed the issue, and the pen is working and showing the correct charge.  Please find attached steps that fixed the pen for me :-)  

 

The other thing that may be worth checking is the pins within the "pen house", the pins looked ok for me but I can imagine they will get pushed in with time causing the pen to stop charging.  Worth having a look to check by looking inside the housing.  There should be two golden pins that stick in towards the pen that will connect and charge the pen.  Take a look and check :-)

I recently purchased a YOGA C940 15.6 as well and had the same problem. The solution is to change the pen charger (part no. 5C10S29986) the pen was not making contact with the previous charger. I have premium care so a onsite technician came to my house to repair it.

Hi, i'm coming across your post now having the same issue as op, would you mind posting the rest of your picture tutorial? I tried repairing, resetting, and uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo Pen Settings app, still nothing.
