Yoga 13 Battery not charging

2015-01-03, 12:25 PM

I have a Yoga 13 with Windows 8.1.

No problem for one year, while it was under warranty.
Then suddenly it stopped charging even when plugged.

When i plug the laptop, three different things can happen :

-Screen flickers and battery icon flickers to between "plugged in, charging" and "not plugged in"

-Or it keeps on 'not plugged in"

Then the battery can stay at its low percentage for days and sometimes with no reason it goes 30% in 2 minutes.

I do not have the 60% energy management software issue.
I did factory reset two times.
I did uninstall ACPI battery driver, shutdown, unplugged, wait 5 minutes and plugged back in.

Energy management up to date (12/2014) and bios up to date.

But problem still NOT SOLVED !

I am not the only one with weird yoga 13 issues on this board but no solution can be found online.

Could anyone please guide me through this?

(Before i throw this 1000$ junk through my windows ?)

Re: Yoga 13 Battery not charging

Problem solved :

One year after my "battery problem", the computer suddenly refused to boot. When I pressed start button, fans and lights turned on for 1-2 sec then shutted down.
I disassembled the Yoga 13 and identified two burned parts on the motherboard.
CHanged the motherboard and.. problem solved !

Conclusion; Yoga 13=good computer but crappy parts.

And ZERO assistance from lenovo... Last lenovo I buy.

GL to you all.

Re: Yoga 13 Battery not charging

Battery not charging, when it gets to zero will not work at all even when plugged in.  Let it site for a couple weeks unplugged to get battery drained as much as possible.  Plugged it in once a day for a about 30 sec to see if anything would happen, nada...   After about 2 weeks, plugged in and finally orange light flashed then when solid and it started charging.  . Let it charge for about 2 hours then decided to see if it works.  Yes!  But then noticed as soon as it was up and running battery starts decreasing and went all the way to dead...  I have tried all the things mentioned on this and other boards to no avail. I am thinking class action may get some attention from Lenovo.  Any thoughts?

Same problem here. In my case the laptop had the "60%" problem. I though I should do a battery gauge reset, which was probably a bad idea, used the energy management for it so I presumed it should work.. however, after the gauge reset the battery is now at 0%, the battery icon says "Plugged in, charging", but the icon is not animated and the percentage doesnt increase.

I would feel confident to replace the battery but I'm wondering if it's more likely to be a problem on the motherboard with the charging circuits?

BTW, the start button in "gauge reset" no longer works...
