Yoga 13 Bluetooth Tethering Problem

I am having a problem with my new Yoga 13 when trying to tether my Samsung Galaxy S3 via Bluetooth.

I go to add a device in Settings.  The devices pair successfully, but the 'Offline' message immediately shows beneath the Phone in devices.

USB tething works fine.

Can anyone help please?

Re: Yoga 13 Bluetooth Tethering Problem

Hi All

Try the following steps which seem to have worked for me (Apologies for the numbering. It went wonky when I tried to past from a word doc):

  1. Disconnect any existing Wi-Fi connections on your Yoga 13.
    1. You can do this from your standard Desktop (bottom right) Wi-Fi Signal strength icon:
  2. Swipe from the right to open your Charms menu and select “Search”
  3. Type in “Devices”
  4. Select “Settings”
  5. Select “Devices”
  6. If your iPhone 5 already exists in the “Devices” list, REMOVE IT:
    1. Highlight the list item
    2. Select the small minus sign and confirm removal of the devic.
  7. On your iPhone 5:
    1. Make sure you have 3G on and functioning as normal
    2. First make sure Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Personal Hotspot are turned off.
    3. Then select and switch on your Personal Hotspot
    4. You should be prompted to turn on Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth. Just turn them both on.
    5. Keep your Personal Hotspot page open
  8. Back on your Ideapad Yoga 13
    1. Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on:
    2. Then open Charms menu again

                                                               i.      Search “Bluetooth”

                                                             ii.      Select “Settings”

                                                            iii.      Select “Add Bluetooth Device”

  1. Your iPhone 5 should come up in the list of detected devices

                                                               i.      Select your iPhone 5

  1. Open your standard desktop and select the small bars icon representing your wireless network connections.
  2. Your iPhone 5 should now become available in the Wi-Fi list.
  3. Connect as normal and you should be prompted for the Wi-Fi Password on your Personal Hotspot page on your iPhone 5.
  4. Enter the password and that should get you up and running.

Best of luck

Claude

plandem,

NINE did respond as you received the notification that day. Due to a glitch in our forum server happened around that few days it caused some loss of forum posts. I apologize for such inconvenience caused.

We're trying to replicate the issue as mentioned in the first post but had some troubles doing it. NINE will look into it again.

Best regards,

Cleo

Re: Yoga 13 Bluetooth Tethering Problem

Hi all,

thanks for posting. As Cleo had mentioned I was looking into this issue and must i personally did not face the smae issue as you did. However in my case i am running Windows 8.1 and I also did try with Win 8 earlier. With this being said I was wondering at the the that this issue was happening, I'm assuming that you were running on Win 8. Now that Win 8.1 has been released I would suggest you to perform all windows update and ensure to uninstall and reinstall the BT drivers and try to connect again to the BT. You should be able to connect.

Hope this helps and please do post back your results and concerns. I'll look into this further should you have further issues connecting.

Regards

Re: Yoga 13 Bluetooth Tethering Problem

Lenovo yoga 10.1 won't bluetooth pair/tether with iphone5

this thread shows it's a lenovo disaster.

any solutions?  firmware upgrade?

The above umpteen step song-and-dance is unacceptable.

btw,  my Lenovo W770 bluetooth headset won't pair with the yoga 10.1.

the headset wouldn't pair with my Google Nexus 7.

so the headset is being returned

headset would only pair, immediately, with its own USB dongle plugged into my desktop.

All these devices seems to recognize each other (except the headset, no device sees it, it sees no device), exchange PINs with iphone, but "fail to connect"

thanks

Len
