Can you check if you got an update (Windows or Lenovo)? I am like 3 seconds from returning mine. Do you know what power profile you are using (power saver, balanced, etc.?) Thanks

I also have this issue. I've tried every power management profile, uninstalling Lenovo power management, as well as messing with the Intel thermal framework option in the BIOS. Nothing seems to help the non-stop spinning of the fan.

I'm having this same problem. The temperatures are great and the laptop never gets hot, but the constantly running fan is annoying. I noticed the only time the fan ever shuts off is when the desktop is idle and I'm not using it, but the moment I open anything (file explorer, etc) the fans kick back in.

I hope a BIOS update can fix this because the computer runs really cool, no need to run the fan so fast for so long.

Is your fan more noisy than the ones at your bestbuy? I asked because the ones in two local bestbuy stores are really quiet.

Re: Yoga 13 Fan Noise

I can tell you for SURE when I was in BB to look at this and other Ultrabooks (touch screen models), I actually picked the Yoga up, holding close to my ear and and heard NO fan at all.  While looking at the units, I did play local music and video files, explored the file sysyem (unfortunately I didn't notice the lack of hard drive space).  So the Yoga IN STORE did get the exact same type of use my unit sees with me.  The HP fan was noticably loud even in a store with people (which turned me off even though it has a back lit keyboard).  The Samsung was nice as too AND SILENT just as the Yoga.  Between the three, the Yoga has a far brighter screen with a better resolution.  It was the combined silence and better screen that closed the deal. But the Sammy and HP both were cheaper ($150-$180 less) then the Yoga.

On my machine I don't feel any actual air exiting the grill. The noise is low but constant. No rattles or anything like that.  As long as my unit is on, the fan is on.  I would accept the fan noise, if playing a game/CPU intensive task, etc. But during general (light) web surfing...hmm NO. I expect this unit to be silent as the one in BB.  I am heading to a BB tomorrow to exchange after 7 days with my current unit.

The fan is much less noticable while playing a movie or game, partly because there is sound or because you're attention is focused on something. But simply typing silently or surfing the web it is VERY noticable.  Personally I DO NOT want to hear it all the time.

The only thing I did differently was that I "Refreshed my PC without affecting my Files" and I recalled a windows update too.  The power plan is in "balanced" mode.  The fan is noticeably quieter compared to when the issue started - no more whizzing sounds, but a barely audible airy noise.

I hope that helps - I was taken a back that the fan quieted down.

So I was exploring autoruns and found the Lenovo Fan control program.

(C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\FanSpeedControl)

Does anyone know how to tweak the settings?

Thanks
