This patch still needs a lot of work, it constantly revs up and down the fans, and all I'm doing is browsing the web, really annoying.

Lots of work? :)  I'm pretty sure it's a matter of changing a few values.

OMG! What a lame Lenovo support. Why they can't just run fans at low rpm at 55-60 and high rpm at 65-70, or even higher (depends how hot is casing). Looks like they even didn't test it. This is one day fix. I was working for two biggest mobile phone vendors and now I am working for gpu vendor fixing such bugs. This Lenovo bug looks like simplest one. Just start different rpms at different temparatures.

No, the fans shouldn't have to run AT ALL on a machine with this processor and a silent SSD, at least not until doing something truly processor-intensive like streaming video (as per other likewise-equipped notebooks out there)!
Can somebody out there dis-assemble the code of this patch so we can re-write it?

Fans should run when casis is too hot. Nobody is allowed selling products which can burn your fingers. And maybe this is problem why Lenovo cant fix this issue. Anyway guy who disabled fans is saying that temperature is only 7 C higher (54), so Lenovo should tests what happened when fans are starting at 60. What is casis temperature then

For whatever reason, there are a ton of changes between the 41ww and the "fan fix" 42ww version of the EC firmware.  I expected there only to be a handful of small changes, but this isn't the case.  Looks like a complete overhaul, which doesn't make any sense.

I measured when the fans start: the casis highest temperature is 31,8 °C (directly by the ventilation holes) - low rpm

Maybe the yoga fans can only run on only two or three different speeds? If this is the case then there are only a few combinations possible:  Fan 1 low, Fan 2 off/ Fan 1 low, Fan2 low / Fan 1 high, Fan2 low /.... and so on.

This scenario of low/off, high/low..... etc. wouldn't really matter. As szy stated, why not just jack up the temperatures that they turn on. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal. A couple of numbers in the code??? or am I missing something important?
