Just a quick FYI: I have no idea why the 55 BIOS hasn't made it to the web yet, but I intend to find out this evening.  It should have been on the Yoga 13 driver matrix ages ago.

Re: Yoga 13 Fan Noise

May not be a related issue but I wanted to add my experience:

I had a couple of applications complaining about MSVCP90.dll is missing or corrupt (Intel appup, H&R block tax software etc), after scanning the system with sfc.exe /scannow, it said it found a bunch of corrupted files but couldn't fix.

So I decided to go with inplace upgrade following the instructions as per below link (make sure you select keep applications, files and settings):

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/install-windows-8-usb.htm

Everything went fine except the audio driver & the dolby theater driver which I had to reinstall.

Overall my yoga is in a much better shape than it was, hope this helps. Do this only if sfc says it found something and didn't fix.

Is there a program I can download to change my fan speed settings or do I have to wait for an update from Lenovo. My fan/fans run constantly..

Edit: flashed the new EC posted back on page 48 or so and that is working better, but the fan is still on for the most part.

Still no BIOS update...

and sorry to say this again, but after a couple of weeks of use, the EC update definitely needs further work.

- fan (low speed) starts too early.

- when the fan is running and using the laptop more intensively, the fan keeps cycling on/off between the higher and lower fan speeds. Looks to me like the on-threshold is the same as the off-threshold and this causes erratic behaviour. Kind of annoying...

I hope you guys can tweak this thing a little further.

Yes the Yoga makes noise,

yes it's unnecesairy to switch on the fans

yes lenovo is very very slow with responses

BUT, I often use a Sony laptop and since we've Windows 8, this one as well is constantly cooling????

It didn't do that under W7.

I find the Lenovo update policy hugely disappointing. I was putting much hope on improvements of the Yoga. But having a look at the driver updates page reveals that last updates are from 2012. **bleep**, Lenovo, seriously? I switched from a 15" MBP Retina to the fully loaded Yoga 13 and I am not only disappointed from Win8 but also Yoga. Pleasant anticipation turned into regret quickly. And this is so unnecessary since Lenovo has customer satisfaction in its hands. If I had known about the WiFi/Bluetooth (stuttering audio) issues before I wouldn't have shelled out so much money on this machine. And that's obviously not the only issue...

Thanks, but entirely in vain. Haven't had a look at the updates site for quite a while. On purpose. Thought I'd give Lenovo some time and be delighted then. Turns out I'm just a romantic idiot and Lenovo is far from what I thought it was. Everyone loses...
