Yoga 13 No Touchpad

2012-12-22, 18:32 PM

Hello everybody, I have a huge problem.

In tablet mode my onscreen keyboard used to work fine, now it disappears within a few seconds every time I try to use it.

In laptop mode my keyboard works fine, but my mouse is gone, and with that my touchpad, no response.

I have tried installing latest touchpad drivers, it failed, I can't do that.

I have also tried the F6 button, it's function is supposed to activate/deactivate the touchpad but sadly it have no effect.

My Yoga 13 is only a few days old and sadly already broken somehow :(

Can anybody help me?

This has been very much discussed in two topics a bit further down. People seem to get it for a while, and have it go away based on certain config changes. For me it went away after having windows suck in updates, or at least a bunch of reboots after that bumpy process. You can temporarily solve probably by rebooting in the tablet mode. The problem being the keyboard/trackpad stays active when folded to tablet. You should read a couple pages of these topic headers... people are needlessly returning hardware for some transitory and solvable but mysterious software issues.

i have read the last 3 pages with topics close to mine and yea, i'm not the only one with problems :(

You say the problem is the keyboard/trackpad being active in tablet, but i don't have that problem at all.

My keyboard works just fine, disabled in tablet and enabled in laptop, but my problem is ONLY the trackpad and it doesn't work whatever i do. The most wierd part is that the F6 key which should enabe touchpad doesn't, if just that key worked...

Anyway i don't think i can return the device, after all i have opened it and placed new RAM and another SSD.

If i don't find a solution a reinstall might help, or so i hope :)

I might open it up once again to see if i **bleep**ed something up while installing my extra SSD, could be a loose cable.

Hehe, i posted that change of mind before seeing your answer. Did it work before you removed the keyboard? Isnt that key over kind of a soft spot that you worked on... maybe you can take it out and make it stick on instead of off?

I don't really remember when it stopped working and i have only had it for a few days now so i don't remember if it was before or after the new hardware. i will take open it up once again and take a look if i did something stupid.

also the button is not stuck on off, so i can't make it stuck on on :(

EDIT: problem maybe found, i think the touchpad cable have been pushed on when i screwed everything back after adding a SSD more.

Yep, this was just a big error 40.

The cable that connected the touchpad with the motherboard was bended out of the lock due to the metal cage pushing to the cable when i closed the pc last time.

It works now after new driver install and reconnected cable and i'm happy :D

This helped me too

I'm having the same problem and I did not open my yoga 13.  My touchpad and mouse worked intermittenly the first few weeks and now are completely gone.  Can't seem to get it turned back on.  Should I open mine up and check the cable?
