Yoga 13 Touchscreen Issues

2014-03-20, 15:19 PM

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 13 almost a year ago and recently I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I've been having touchscreen issues ever since. Everytime I restart or wake make computer back up from sleep/hibernation the screen has this white square on the screen, it looks like this:

The mouse is stuck here, but I found some weird trick to get the mouse unstuck and make the box go away. I just touch the screen with my finger where the box is and move it back and forth a few times and the mouse becomes unstuck. However, it leaves 2 white circles on the screen that stays there forever. Here is a picture of those circles.

This makes windows think I am touching the screen when I'm really not and therefore I can't click things anymore because if I actually touch the screen then it thinks it's a 2-finger touch which turns into a zoom.

I've looked around and seen that some Lenovo Twist user has this problem here and he/she seemed to fix it with touchscreen firmware updates. However, I cannot seem to find any such fixes for the Yoga 13 since there is no touchscreen firmware update on the drivers site. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem?

FYI, I'm not sure if you'll need it but here are my comp specs:

I can't believe that nobody from Lenovo has addressed this yet. It's so maddening, I'm having the EXACT same problem and I (along with several other people) have been posting about it for months, and we haven't heard so much as a word from Lenovo tech support...so frustrating....

I'm having this exact same problem Has anyone found a solution. I just purchased the newest lenovo Yoga a month ago and it just started doing this today. My McAfee free trial ran out yesterday, so I'm wondering if it's viral or if McAfee has programmed the software to mess with my computer when the trial is over.... to encourage me to purchase their product. I only use this PC on my college network and I am only on google, wiki, and the library website.

I've got my Yoga 3 14 about a month ago and it always gets ghost touches when I wake it up from sleep, which is solved by putting it to sleep again and waking it up again, which is quite annoying, but solves the problem. As it only happens when waking the notebook from sleep and not every time, it seems to be a firmware problem, which craches every once in a while or something like this.

I saw a thread where a guy returned his Yoga to the factory settings and it didn't have any problem for 2 days, when it came back and he had to send it to support, where they changed a lot of stuff, including the screen.
I don't think that it's a hardware problem, with the screen or the mobo or anything like this, because it'd happen always, but, I may be wrong, as I'm not expert.
If someone finds the solution for the ghost touch recognition, please post it here!

At first, I thought it was my dirty screen, but now I clean my screen everytime I turn it on and it keeps happening every once in a while.
It's annoying, as I said, but knowing that it doesn't happen everytime, it doesn't take any shine from the notebook for now,as I'm loving it!

Here's what worked for me to get rid of the white circle(s) on the touch screen monitor:

Open the Control Panel, search for Pen and Touch, open the Pen and Touch Settings, and uncheck the box at the bottom that says "Show visual feedback when touching the screen."

but that doesn't keep the digitizer from thinking someone is touching the screen. that's the problem, not so much that the spots are showing up. editing video and gaming and just general use. it's madening that this is clearly an issue that hasn't been fixed in all generations of the yoga.

and until i see a positive outcome of sending it back for repair (not that i've seen negative ones) I've disabled the touch interface in the device manager until then

This is not just a Yoga problem.  It happened on my new Acer 19.6" touch screen monitor yesterday, and all I had to do was uncheck that box I mentioned above.

It also happened on one of my three Yoga 2 11 laptops last summer, and I fixed it by unchecking that box I mentioned above.  This is not a Lenovo problem.
