Yoga 13 TrackPad Issues

2013-05-02, 18:25 PM

Whenever my Yoga 13 goes to sleep or I close the lid the TrackPad pretty much becomes unusable. I can no longer use the gestures and am not sure why they become disabled after the machine is put into sleep or if the lid is closed. This is very frustrating. I think the TrackPad is wonderful but I wish the gestures would always work. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

-Running Synaptics Version 16.2.21.4

-I have all the latest updates from Windows Update

Thanks!

hi thehammer401,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Your problem might be similar to the first question on this thread.

Can you try the solution that is to disable this service called "ymc" or Yoga Mode Control by doing the following:

1. Press Windows+R > type services.msc and press enter

2. On the list of services, scroll down to ymc, right click > properties > click Stop > set Startup Type to Disabled

3. Restart or put the laptop to sleep and see if the problem reoccurs.

Let me know your findings

Cheers

This seems to have solved my problem. Shouldn't have to do that to make it work the way its supposed to. Windows 8 drivers are young though so im guessing with time these types of things will get worked out. Thank you so much for the help I really appreciate it. Now I have 0 complaints with the Yoga 13 :)

Update:

My problem still persists. I've disabled YMC as mentioned in the previous post. This fixed it for a couple days but the TrackPad continues to have the issues I mentioned above. It's very annoying. Any other solutions for the TrackPad?

hi JStine,

I tried that fix on the Yoga13 here on the lab and the touchpad functionality seems flawless. What I would do in your case is to perform a clean boot and observe if the issue persist.

If the unit's working correctly, try to enable all lenovo services and all of your personal programs one by one (this isolates if another app is disabling your touchpad).

Regards,

neokenchi

That is not helpful at all. Doing a clean install is not an acceptable solution. What do you mean by enabling all Lenovo Services? Where do I find that? Really expect better customer service :(

hi JStine,

What I mean is a clean boot. This procedure isolates and disable non microsoft services and apps that's probably causing the touchpad functionality to stop.

Check this microsoft article

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8

Re: Yoga 13 TrackPad Issues

This is one of DOZENS of yoga trackpad related threads.  What does this tell you, neokenchi?  Got any other "HOOPS" for us to jump though?

My trackpad makes the unit almost useless.  The current driver on lenovo site as well as more recent drivers don't help.  Mouse jumps all over the screen while typing.  I almost fell over at the suggested fixes from lenovo employees.  Disable the service that provides the features that are, without a doubt, the whole reason the yoga exists in the first place??!!

Keyboard and trackpad are also occasionally inoperable on the logon screen, forcing me to cycle power!

To Lenovo....   MAN UP!  Show some INTELLIGENCE,WISDOM   and, oh, I don't know, ABILITY.  Help your customers by fixing crap drivers NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!  Stop the finger pointing blame game.  YOU release a fix that disables a crappy service, don't ask us to do it!  In fact, instead of telling us to disable a service, why don't YOU FIX IT!  YOU figure out what is making sooooo many people's trackpads unusable!

Why do we have to beg for you to make it right?  YUCK!

Oh, and if you want to try to put it back on customers again, try looking at one of the FIRST REVIEWS of the Yoga....
http://microsoft-news.com/the-verge-reviews-the-lenovo-ideapad-yoga-13/

Don't give us any more lip service about "Other Software" causing the issues. This has been an ongoing issue for the Yoga that Lenovo is apparently simply ignoring! A simple search proves that out!
