Yoga 13 hinges loose?

2013-02-26, 6:38 AM

When using it on Laptop mode. Lets say the screen is on a straight position, and when you starting bending it towards the back? Right between that point where it you could push all the way or leave it straight it seems to me a bit loose. I really don't how to explain it :/

Let say 90 degrees angle, it seems ok. you go to 100-120 and there you get a loose feeling. Even at some point, you can push it forward (towards you) and it goes automatically back (slightly).

Is there anyone else getting a similar feeling?  Don't remember having it before getting the replacement for my other Yoga. I may just go back to the store and play with the one they have n display. Just to compare them.

Your opposite is the opposite. The "problem" is when in laptop mode. Its kinda the same angle but from a laptop position.

Do you really think I just can bring my yoga to one of those service cent for them to check out my Yoga? Just like that? I am gonna check it out, hopefully we have a place here in Cologne (Germany).

I dunno, I am starting to get stressed with this device. Now I have noticed something akward with the edges of the screen :/ nothing bad... just worries me that after the 14 days I have to return it to the store something is gonna happen and it wont be covered by warranty. And I dont wanna go back and replace the laptop AGAIN. :(

This problem also happens to me, with the same angle.

But it doesn't seem very annoying to me. You can go with any degree you want, except for only a few degrees somewhere between 115-120.

Could you make a picture of that angle where that happens to you? Just double check.

Anyone else?

I'm noticing this as well after about 2 months of use.  There's quite a lot of play at certain angles.  Tonight, I lowered the screen to about 20 degrees or so to get it out of the way of the TV and it fell shut and put the computer in sleep mode.  Unfortunately, this ended the streaming movie we were watching.

I've owned a number of other laptops and haven't had a similar issue.  It's troubling that the problem is a recent development.

Has this hinge problem been solved?  I purchased my Yoga 13 in Sept refurbished and have been using it without issue hingewise.

I've found if you push the hinges right back (obtuse angle) then pull forward again (acute angle) it seems to settle stiffer at a reflex angle. There's excessive movement in the hinges. I rarely use it in tablet mode so it's getting to the point where I'll take it to Lenovo centre for a service. I saved £400 on the RRP buying a return/refurb model so don't mind paying a little for repair.
