Yoga 13, slow/laggy scrolling with trackpad.

Just got this machine (Yoga 13 i5) 3 days ago, and while I'm satisfied for the most part I noticed that scrolling in web pages using either Firefox or IE is pretty slow. Actually it seems like webpage rendering overall is a little weak. I'm coming from a Acer Timeline X 3830T which has pretty much the same specs as the Yoga 13 and there's no comparison. The acer always rendered instantly and never felt slow loading.

The odd thing is that if I use my fingers in IE the scrolling is just as smooth as on my iPhone. In Firefox it's the same laggyness. It doesn't feel like a problem with the trackpad itself, rather It feels as if the GPU simply can't keep up, which I'd have trouble believeing. Am I the only one noticing this?

Also what's with the CPU overhead? In task manager I'm seeing 15-20% cpu utilization at idle with a good chunk of it being taken up by WMI Provider Host.

Does it include the desktop version of Firefox as well? I'm hesitant to install a nightly version of FF as I've had bad luck with it in the past.

Re: Yoga 13, slow/laggy scrolling with trackpad.

Hi Fudanshi,

I was trying to let you try a version for Firefox for windows 8 for a touch version to see if it will do the same slowness.

Thanks and Regards,

Soha

Interesting. How much total RAM do you have? What is your current total RAM utilization %?

I notice that I currently have 10 tabs open in Firefox and on its own, Firefox v20.0.1 is utilizing ~600MB of RAM. The scrolling on web pages is very smooth and comparable to using IE. However, in some websites, the scroll action ends up selecting the text instead of scrolling - which is very annoying. This happens on both the trackpad as well as the touch screen. I am using the desktop version of the Firefox. (i7, 8GB of RAM)
