andyP IS the Mod.

And yes, a Lenovo rep needs to address this issue by either admitting this is a problem that will be resolved in some way (software update, hardware changes, etc...), or by offering solutions to people. Ignoring customers will not do a bit of good for the reputation of their customer service.

Re: Yoga 13 wifi is extremely poor

After alot of research I finally decided that a Lenovo Yoga would be my next laptop. .

looks like that will not be the case now.  .

Wifi problems are a major issue for a laptop thats selling points are ease of use and mobility.

Big dissapointment and I would expect more from this company.

This review hit it on the head:

"Great Design, wifi Issue probably a deal-breaker"

2.5 stars

Pros: speed, SSD,design, touchscreen

Cons: wifi is a ridiculous downfall that should be easily remedied, but Lenovo seems to be turning its back to the many pleas for a fix from disgruntled purchasers that must be returning a lot of product.

Summary: I bought an open-box, and it has the wifi problem. I was hopeful Lenovo would come up with a fix, but no. Its going back (again) unless they get on the ball. Fatal flaw with easy resolution, but will Lenovo support an otherwise great product? Not looking good.

Re: yoga 13 wifi issues

Return my yoga 13 to Bestbuy it could not connect to an ASUS (56U) router. 8 other devices are connect to include my NEST thermostat. Not replacing a router because of a bad NIC. Sad part it work fine on Bestbuy's network. When they get fixed let me know I'll buy again if I haven't bought a Dell XPS12...

Returned my yoga before return period ended. Hopefully they will fix wifi because the form factor is excellent.

I am convinced with the right drivers it can go from abysmal to OK and with redesigned antennas it can become awesome.

I'd be amazed if the new models at best buy were retooled, but we can hope.

What saddens me is I put hours into diagnosing the issues with this laptop and didn't get one PM from a Lenovo rep. You have a customer who is experiencing the issues, can replicate them at ease and has documented as best as possible what causes them. And yet, you don't respond before he returns the laptop. Free testing opportunity and you don't even try.

It is worse than that. The Yoga 13 was announced at the International CES 2012 in January but was not released until Windows 8 became available in October. Lenovo had ample time to test the Yoga 13 and correct any issues.

I return my Yoga because it would not connect to my ASUS (56U)  router.  Problem is I have 8 other devices connected.  When I went to BB they connected to their network fine.  The NIC has faults..so I'm waiting for 2nd generation also. This is one cool laptop.  I wonder if  Unit 61398 is part of the design team; but they would want to connect to the network to get our secrets....nevermind

I know this is not a real solution for everyone, but wanted to share something that worked for me.

I bought the Yoga 13 for my wife and we really like it, but the wifi issue was very disappointing and only happened after Windows update. So we wanted to try to do something to keep it.

Since we mostly use it at home and can deal with occasional issues when we travel, I dug out my 7 year old (maybe 9 years) 802.11G Access Point, rated at 108mbps. I connected it to my network in addition to my existing b, g, and n operating on 2.4 and 5ghz. To be clear the old AP is on 2.4ghz.

I created a separate wireless network with the old G AP instead of repeating the existing network. Now the Yoga 13 connects every time flawlessly and the performance is acceptable on a G network. It streams HD movies fine and surfs fine.

So if you have an old G AP somewhere, it maybe worth digging it out.

Badt, i also had wifi trouble only after windows update, and solved it by flipping the windows switch to allow connecting at home without reading the broadcasted router name.

Today when I was at BB, a sales rep told me they would be receiving shipments of Yoga 13s with different specs than the current gen at the end of this month, and that I should wait until then before making a purchase.

The new Yoga 13s at Best Buy still have the Realtek RTL8723A wifi, still have antennas that get blocked by your hands and/or lap and still suffer from dropped connections on moderate connections. I suspect that they also come with the same lackluster support from Lenovo. But they do come in two colors of dysfunction: Silver Grey and Clementine Orange!
