It looks like that the latest wireless driver is not working properly with the latest win 8 updates. Last night (before you did the updates?), the wireless driver was probably ok, but now it is messed up by the updates (both the drivers and the win8).

You're probably right. So is there anything I can do except wait for a driver update? Is it going to happen again?

You mean it seems better? Because you cannot mean that the Dell looks good? It is ugly/boring. The reason I bought the Yoga is that it is gorgeous, in orange.

Re: Yoga 13 wifi is extremely poor [possible fix]

Here is a solution that so far has worked to fix random wifi connection interruptions / drops.
1. Bring up the device manager by searching "device manager" from the charms menu under settings.
2. Click on network adapters in the device manager.
3. Right click on "Realtek RTL8723A wireless ..." under network adapters. Click on properties.
4. In the properties box click on the advanced pane.
5. Inside the advanced pane set the following values to these parameters:
selective suspend: disabled (I think this is the only change necessary but I did the other 2 parameter changes as well, you can experiment with different choices)
selective suspend timeout: 60
WiFi config: WiFi
Click OK to save settings.

I, too, am hopeful that the engineers are working on this. I suspect they paid a lot of attention to the details of the acrobatic screen and neglected to test the wifi thouroughly before going to production. It's somewhat more difficult to correct a problem like this after the fact. Any moderators or admins, you should speak up. I'm returning mine in the next week as well if some solution is not articulated by then.

Yeah, I just got my return labels and will be returning it soon. It is really disappointing, as it was a lot of fun to use. I still think it makes most of the competition look pretty lackluster, and while I am returning mine, I hope to buy one at a later date when they have worked out some of the issues (mainly wifi connection). That leaves one issue: I'm not sure how I will know when they have fixed the problem in newer models. Any ideas?

monitor this board like I am doing. If you continue to see issues by consumers ... don't buy.

I wish I would have returned my Yoga when I could. I am very disappointed as I thought Lenovo would be quick to fix this problem. The Lenovo Reps at first seemed like they wanted to help but they how now all disappeared.

Re: Yoga 13 wifi is extremely poor

This issue really needs a response from someone in the know at Lenovo. I called up their support yesterday and was told that they are aware of this issue but don't have a cause or a solution.

My best advice that I could offer is:

DON'T BUY A LENOVO YOGA

At least not until you see people saying that the problem is fixed.

Based on my experience, I would be amazed if this was a software issue. Most likely they took a wifi card and used it outside of its specifications to get it to fit within the streamlined design. Unfortunately by doing so, they left it succeptible to interference, poor reception, etc.

The device works fine if you use it with a wifi hotspot right next to it. But use it on your home wifi (if you have a big enough house) or at a public location (e.g. a hotel) and the wifi is unbearable. At best you have problems with low-latency apps like remote desktop. At worst, even regular apps fail because they have too many failed transmissions.

Why couldn't they put the same wifi setup as is in the X1? I haven't seen anybody complain about that - the two devices are roughly the same size.

I'm finally getting around to returning my Yoga to  Best Buy with the hopes that the new one is better, but in reality all I am doing is buying an extra 30-45 days in case the laptop wifi isn't better.

If anyone from Lenovo actually wants to respond, I am more than happy to troubleshoot. However I can guarantee right now that no amount of resetting my system to default settings will fix this.

You are exactly right.  I have tremendous patience for companies putting out new products.  But the six weeks of working on this issue with no response is a de facto answer that Lenovo plans not to fix the problem on this product.

Mine goes back this weekend.  (I use it with an external keyboard due to multiple characters, a bluetooth moouse due to touchpad problems and of course a USB WiFi stick.  In that configuration it's a great machine.)

To those reviewing this machine, pay attention to this thread.  Best of luck.
