Need to replace my failed Yoga 2 11 Hard Drive wd5000mpck 5MM($206.00),, will a wd5000lpvx 7MM($44.00) drive fit..
Big price difference..

of course big price differences, The technical differences are:
cache (MB); Ampere Peak(5V); Power W (read/write); standby W; acoustic (dBA); Height mm; Weight
wd5000mpck: 16 ; 0,9 ; 1,5 ; 0,15 ; 15-17 ; 5 ; 0,07 kg
wd5000lpvx: 8 ; 1 ; 1,4 ; 0,13 ; 17-21 ; 7 ; 0,09
But the big difference is the connector!!!! wd5000mpck use a SFF-8784 Edge connector (5mm) and the wd5000lpvx a "standard" SATA 6 connector!
So need a different connector first. I installed a SSD with 6,8mm Height, and it was very tight, but works. I got the new connector from Lenovo´s shop (8 Euro) (only on request), more than 6 times less than other shops or ebay, but maybe it is different in USA.
Look for this part: HDD cable Lenovo P/N: 90204934 (Vienna HDD cable SEAGET) (SATA connector)
If i have to change my harddisk, i would install a SSD again! ;-) (256GB (128GB would be enough for system and few files) and large files on an external harddisk)
I hope this helps for your decision!

Thanks for the reply, I had already ordered the wd5000lpvx..when it came in I started the swap only to realize when I opened the laptop that the connectors where different, at that point I spent couple of hours looking for the cable (90204934) and finally found it..it just shipped today so hopefully I'll get it next week and i can get this thing back up.
Thanks for the response
