Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

2015-02-11, 18:09 PM

Hello Guys

Some addition to my previous post.

As swankiller mention about Dual Band card, I was then realize I am not picking up the 5GHz band so I dig deeper into the case. Although Win 8 does automatically picked up Broadcom BCM94352Z wifi driver but only 2.4GHz range works, in order to fully utilitize your wifi adapter. You will need to install the wifi driver manually as well.

In reference to the forum link below:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/broadcom-bcm4352-bcm94352hmb.755647/

Someone pointed out that Asus have written a better driver than others so I tested upon the Lenovo's ones. Got to say yes the wifi signal will goes up to 600 odd Mbps and slowly stable down at around 580 plus Mbps. So I took their word for it and installed the Asus written driver for broadcom and the signal is dead on the 800 plus Mbps range.

For anyone who is interested in trying the driver, here is one of the reference link from asus:

Cheers

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

Today I contacted Lenovo on whether or not it is possible to order the Intel 7260NGW (P/N 20200617) adaptor via Lenovo (as advised by Mark in an earlier post). They advised me to use http://www.lenovoserviceshop.com/.

When I enter the p/n 20200617 in the serviceshop search engine, I'm forwarded to a product called 'WLAN Module' with the following MSN (service?) number: 35020612.

However, this product is currently out of stock. I made a quote for the part and Lenovo will contact me within 10 days.... So let's wait and see if this is the right part.

As reply to Swankiller questions, to my knowledge anything running ac is Dual band. Max bandwidth is 450Mbps @ 2.4GHz whereas Max bandwidth @ 5GHz is 1000+ Mbps

As for speak, Intel 7260 AC and the broadcom wifi adapter are both dual band. Do take advise from Emmerx and Mischa213 here avoid ordering your gear from china supplier.

Hunt for the card from some surplus or second hand supplier might be a better and safer bet.

Cheers

This card will only work in the Yoga 2 Pro; it is not supported by the BIOS white list of the Yoga 2 13.

Cancel you order if still possible...

Only 2 very specific AC 5GHz wifi bt cards will work in the Yoga 2 13:

  • Intel 7260AC  Lenovo P/N 20-200617
  • Broadcom  BCM94352Z   Lenovo P/N 20-200480 FRU: 04X6020

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

2015-03-11, 18:44 PM

Somehow after last weekend my Realtek problems have really gone bad. This morning I needed two reboots after resuming from sleep before the Yoga found any wireless networks. Last night I upgraded the DD-WRT firmware on my router and tried reverting back to the 2012.4.1022.2013 drivers with no difference in stability. Before this the wlan at my home was ok and the problems were in other networks.

When the network stays connected, what I called a little stuttering in November has now turned into a terrible nightmare. I tried to capture it in a video of ssh'ing to a computer in the same LAN and printing the nanoseconds portion of the system date in 0.1sec intervals. The action (or really the lack of action) starts at 00:15.

https://youtu.be/pMJQpE71i1s

The problem is not in the antenna cable connections (checked), not in the Windows 8.1 power options and the different driver versions have no effect either. Today I got fed up and ordered the  20200617 7260AC card from Lenovo Serviceshop as advertised in the sister thread. I think it's worth mentioning in this thread too, that they're available in EU. They were out of stock yesterday, but I sent a request and exactly 24h later I had an email that there are some in stock!
