Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

With the Realtek card I have noticed some stuttering issues in every network (with all the three drivers I have mentioned here earlier). Some "No internet connection" messages now and then in Chrome which aren't a big deal, but it's really annoying to use ssh to control my other computers. SSH (Using puTTY) hangs for a few seconds almost every minute. The network never disconnects though.

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

No reaction from 'teflon' Mark_Lenovo anymore ....

No support from the regional service organisation ....

My Yoga turned out to be a disaster product with nonsufficient service.

I will return my 6 months old product tot the reseller next Friday to get my money back.

If not, I will smash the Yoga to pieces just outside of the shop.

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

Emmerex,

When last I updated, I was awaiting arrival of the back ordered wifi card.  We ordered one, and after calling parts and confirming the part number and checking availability over the phone, I found the same thing that I had already been told - that is was on back order.

I promised I would update once I had the card in hand and could confirm it installed and worked as development has communicated to me.  I've been waiting on the card.

Alas, cards came in yesterday, but there seems to be an issue in the logistics as the cards which were received were not the ones which we had ordered. Different part number and connector type.   We confirmed the part numbers that were ordered, and don't know if there was an erroneous substitution in the system, or just what happened.  We are in the process of investigating this, and re-ordering the part.

Again, once I have the card, I can update this thread.  Until I do, I'm not sure what else I can say about it as I've shared the information made available to me on this topic.

Mark

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

This is the Lenovo OEM Intel 7260AC card in the Yoga 2 13 with BIOS version 1.09 !

Yoga213 7260AC DEV_08B1 v1.09 Wifichip.jpg

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&SUBSYS_C1708086&REV_6B\E82AEAFFFF67F3A900
FCC ID: PD97260NG
ID: 1000M-7260NG
TA: G99521-003
CMIIT ID: 2013AJ0751

Works (at least/ starting with/ only) with BIOS v1.09

But there is no Lenovo P/N, nor FRU on the card ??????

How can it be so hard for Mark & Lenovo to get this card?
Just go to BestBuy and get a Yoga 2 13
That can't take weeks, can it ?

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

It's deadly quiet in here.

Could it be a secret mission?

Maybe Lenovo is waiting for Black Friday and will surprise us with a free 20200617

when customers join their Lenovo Y3P-corner and handover their 7260N cards?

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

I am also waiting for some resolution on this. The wi-fi on my Yoga 2 13" is just terrible. I have to be in the same room as my router. It's worse than the 5-year-old Asus laptop I replaced.

What wifi card do you have?

I'm mainly interested in upgrading to an AC card, but I don't have any complaints about my current wifi card(beyond it being single-channel). It has pretty much perfect connectivity.

With my old router(Asus RT-N12) I maxed out at ~ 100kb/s on wifi with it and thought it was my wireless card, but I upgraded to a TP-Link WDR3600 and can get ~45 mbps on the other side of my house from my router(I get 120 mbps on ethernet.) I never have issues on campus with wifi either.

FWIW, the lspci output of my wifi card. I plan on opening my laptop up soon to put in a SSD if anyone wants me to take a picture of the actual information on the card itself.

Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 (rev 6b)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Wireless-N 7260

I'm using Linux(3.17.3 kernel + 7260.9 ucode for iwlwifi). On Linux make sure you're using the latest microcode for the module/latest kernel, on windows try updating your drivers(the newest one seems to be from the 19th this month.)

Glad to hear you have no problems.

But most of us here are less lucky ...

We don't need any new pictures, as all pictures are in this topic already:

We are just waiting for Lenovo to confirm the availibility of the 20200617 combo card, a specific Yoga 2 13 version of the Intel 7260AC that deals with the higher SAR values due to the positioning of the wifi antennas in the Yoga 2 13.

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

I've got the Intel wireless-N 7260. I've installed all the latest drivers from the lenovo site but in device manager the driver is listed as 16.5.3.6, from date 9/19/2013. Seems like it would be newer than that...

The problem isn't really bandwidth. When it is actually making a connection the bandwidth is fine. The problem is the range seems to be really short. The bandwidth drops to almost zero as I move away from the router, and this is true at home, at coffee shops, everywhere, at distances that my iPhone 6 (on wifi) or my old laptop had no problem with.

Not sure what is going on...

Re: Yoga 2 13 (20344) WiFi Issues

The latest released drivers from the Lenovo support site (Kona) are 17.0.3.3

They should be dated 2014-05-26.

Resuming several posts in different topics, wifi problems can be caused by (short recap):

  • Loose antenna connectors
Quality assurance seems not 100% for these connectors, as several people have solved their problems just bij opening the Yoga and pressing the antenna connectors firmly to the card.

  • Wrong or older drivers
For all cards (at least Realtek and Intel) Lenovo has released river updates that fixed several issues.
Sometimes they are hard to find, as the latest RTL8723BE drivers were not updated on the Yoga 2 13 page ...
Search this forum for   2012.16.0523.2014  dated 2014-06-20
The Intel 7260N single band drivers are updated on the Lenovo support site.

  • Incompatible routers or access points
It looks like the implementation of wifi N is not always compatible with different brands/ types of routers.
This leads to not being able to connect, connection drops or slow transfer speeds.
The Lenovo solution is to buy a new router (everywhere you use your mobile Yoga?), I think they should improve the combination of their BIOS and the firmware/drivers of both combo cards.

  • Energy settings
It seems many problems occur if power management reduces the energy for the WLAN card, even temporary.
Just make sure power is always maximal, so that you take one possible cause away.

After Lenovo introduced a special 20200617 version of the 7260AC called SAR I realized that the position of the antennas might cause more FCC radiation issues as they are closer to the user while typing. This is different from e.g. de Yoga2pro.

Reducing the transmission power in firmware or drivers or choosing less performing cards reduces the liability for Lenovo, but also seems to destroy our range ..
