Re: Yoga 2 13 Internals

hi,

i've hard time to install a 128gb ssd, i've tryed to use macrium reflect to clone the drive but with my 500 + 16gb hardrive the partition is too big to fit the ssd.

i've tryed to resize C: and shrink it using the disk manager but i can't shrink it less than 2xxgb cause it seems that some info are written on all that part of the parition, even if only 40gb are used by windows right now.

anybody have a clue ?

thanks in advance.

I can't say that it will suitable for your purpoise but Acronis True Image makes disk image that contains data without а hidden garbage. When you are restoring it back Acronis wants a minimum space. Also you should empty Recycle Bin.

anyway thanks for the advice !

Farstone DriveClone (free) worked great for me.

Do m.2 SSDs of the 2242 format work in the Yoga 2 13? I know it takes m.2 format, but I'm unsure of the compatibility between the different m.2 types. I have one from my old laptop that I'd like to reuse instead of having to buy a new SSD.

It will work.

But there is no screw hole at 42mm to fix it, so you should use some tape...

Hey gang,

I hope people are still following this thread, I installed my new 128gb msata ssd and I dont see it in my computer or macrium reflect tool. Anything I have to do before it will show up?

EDIT: I got the ssd recognized but macrium is not cloning my 441gb worth of data on my 128gb ssd even with selecting some of the 7 partitions to clone. Any ideas ?

First move all data to an external USB disk.

Then resize the (data)partition to a size that will fit on your SSD.

After cloning copy back the necessary data.

What do you mean by the data partition? I have the EFI, recovery partitions on the new drive, would those allow me to reinstall windows 8 from the recovery menu?

I also lost my installed programs due to windows telling me i have to refresh my pc settings
