Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

Hello,

I think time to replace my keyboad - had a soft space bar to begin with then I spilled wine into it and several buttons don't work or work all the time without pressing.

I cannot find the correct part number for the keyboard. I tried the lenovo online part finder and it either shows nothing or an incomplete list. And the voice system just leads me to call som IBM 800 number and they did not answer yesterday (maybe Pres day??).

Can someone help me find the correct part number for the keyboard?

Also do these keyboard replacement instructions apply to the Yoga 2 13 (just 'peal' the keyboard out rather than disassemble the whole thing)?

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Remove-and-replace-Yoga-13-keyboard/ta-p/1...

Thank you.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

I'm in same trouble: several keys don't work. Possible solutions: fix single keys (pretty easy but long lasting?): https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Lenovo+Yoga+2+13-Inch+Keyboard+Keys+Replacement/39513

I wanted to replace the whole keyboard, because about seven keys don't work. So in foresight that could last longer than changing single keys (like in the existing ifixit guide).

But this really looks bad (removed mainboard etc.) : http://i65.tinypic.com/rhjpth.jpg

the black spots aren't screws, they are rivets or I don't know how this is called correctly. So one chance might be: cut them all off. But how to fix the new keyboard afterwards?

Any experience?

Is the single key fix from ifix it always successful?

My current idea: getting a "palmrest" (frame with keyboard) of exactly the same model.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

Hello,

Hardware Maintenance Manual - Lenovo Yoga 2 13

Page 60 to 62, you can have a look at the different parts of the Yoga, and specifically the "Upper Case with Keyboard" (it's one whole piece, you don't separate the keyboard from the case).

The reference of this part can be found on pages 61-62:

- ZiVYo Upper Case

- BK for black, SV for silver

- W/KB- , followed by the keyboard layout country (GER for German, for example)

You get the Part Number (FRU no.) on the appropriate line.

Go to: https://www.medion.com/lenovoserviceshop/welcome

Type the Part Number in the "Produkt-Nr." field, then "Suche starten"

You should be able to get the right part from there, I guess.

For example, for the silver German keyboard:

Re: Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

Hello blero,

thank you very much, I found it. I didn't knew that shop exists. I requested the keyboard with frame MSN: 35017724. They don't have it in stock. If it's not available, maybe I can get another colour.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

Thank you blero - I never would have figureed that out on my own. Smiley Happy

I found the black US version as part number 90205193 here:

https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/10201955/Lenovo/90205193/Zivy0_Upper_Case_Bk_Wkb-usa

It appears that glass of wine (I spilled into the keyboard) will be an expensive one and require a bit more work than I was anticipating.

Thank you m00ny for posting the picture.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

Re: Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

I know this thread is old, but maybe someone can help me though.

I have no idea how the keyboard looks with the frame (I mean this) and i can't imagine how this is helping to replace the keyboard.

It would be very nice if someone would provice a pitcture of this.

Thx

Re: Yoga 2 13 Keyboard replace

You have to mount everything (mainboard, speakers etc.) what's on the back of the old keyboard+frame onto the new one, which looks like this:$_57.JPG
