Richard,
Lenovo should support the system config as it shipped (depending on the individual system model and which card it shipped with) and address any issues through service if the config does not work as designed - i.e., replace defective cards, antenaes, boards, etc under the terms and conditions of warranty as determined by support on a case by case basis.
Similarly, as a normal course of business, we periodically release updated drivers and make those available on the support site. In many cases, the updated drivers may improve performance and / or address specific issues reported by customers.
My intent in this thread was to try to find out why some 7260 AC cards being installed by customers were not working, when I had been told that 7260 was supported after BIOS 1.08. I was not saying that Lenovo was planning to swap 7260 for other cards as any kind of field upgrade or warranty action. I recognized that customers may elect to make use of newer parts to retrofit older configs on their own accord (assuming compatibility) and wanted to try to aid this effort in the community.
The photo I borrowed (with attribution) from another member of the community and marked up with an arrow was not intended to show the card you needed, but to show the number for the SAR version. The 20200617.
As soon as I can get one of those cards and test it in a system here, I'll get a pic of that card as installed posted to clarify.
I was out of the office the week 6-10th and had to follow up when I returned. A card was ordered while I was out and tested with several of the BIOS versions and found not to work, which led to the deeper research and subsequent understanding of the SAR version of the card and why it is controlled through the whitelist.
Thanks for your understanding
Mark
