Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Anyone have tips for connecting the extremely small/fragile antennae leads to the new card?  These are extremely easy to mangle and render the PC wireless-less, so to speak.

I sent a message to one of the gurus at the site, nothing back yet.  If i get anything back, I'll post it here.

The card works great by the way, really fast, and very long range with my fancy new Asus RT-68U router.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

This is ridiculous, what a digrace of a card. No dual band and it connects max 150mbps on my router. When I copy from my desktop it does 5-6MB/sec. The intel 6230 from my old Envy6 was doing 25MB/sec on 5ghz connected 300N. Please someone tell me there is a way to swap it cause I really love this machine.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

I remember I disassembled the Y2P's BIOS and located the whitelist. There were several intel cards listed, including the AC version. But I couldn't find a way to change and reassemble it. For me it is not a problem as I am lucky and my AC card from M-Factors is in the whitelist. But I do share your frustration with these stupid issues.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Well I see some people with the yoga 2 pro being lucky but I don't know about the ones with the yoga 2 13 non pro cause I don't see any confirming the AC works and I don't want to spend the money on a card which I can't use. I use to move a lot of data between my laptop and my htpc/nas pc but at those speeds you need to have a lot of patience.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Not sure luck has anything to do with it.  Lenovo has updated the bios (including whitelist)  for the Y2P.  The Y213 has not been updated - and yes, they bios's are different between the two.

I've since sold my Y213 to a customer (who's thrilled with it), and bought a ThinkPad Yoga.  I only sold it because there was a long backorder for Y213's, and my customer couldn't wait.  I haven't tried the wireless AC card in it yet, but I'm guessing it's going to work since the TPY is more of a corporate platform rather than a consumer product.

Going to the TPY was a sideways move, as the screen is a little smaller (12.5" vs 13.3") but it's a big plus that it accepts standard 2.5" SSD's (I've already installed a Samsung 500GB), and the TPY's keyboard is phenomenal.  The TPY uses the same stock wireless-N Intel 7260 card which does seem to be more stable than it was in the Y213.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Well I home someone with the non pro can tell me if it can take the AC card as stock card can't do more than 10MB no matter what I do and I find this a bit ridiculous since an older dual band card like the 6230 can do 25mb connected to 300mbps. Does anyone know about the 7260 dual band not the AC version if it works?!?

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

I got the intel wireless AC card (after reading first few pages of Y2P wireless card, I ordered it, thinking it will work for Yoga 2 13 as well) and got the same message of unauthorized card during startup. After reading this forum, I tried changing the wireless card while that computer was on sleep and when I started it did started recognizing 5GHz frequency. Thanks for letting know on that. Only problem is I am going to use it in sleep mode, so I do not start the computer endup with unauthorized card message again. Smiley Sad

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Have you got the one with the FCC ID on it ? Cause people on the Y2P thread are saying only that one works. Supposedly the first one is the good one. I would really want your confirmation cause me and a friend of mine we want to upgrade also but I can't keep my machine in sleep all the time.
