No. I'm still waiting for a new or modded BIOS... :-(

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

I think it is hopeless to wait on a modded BIOS. Because it is protected.

Maybe it is easier to patch/rewrite the PCI-ID of the wireless card, to one which is listed in the whitelist.

I have read something about it, which works on other intel cards.

Any ideas or infos where to get more details?

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Perhaps not "hopeless" but one has to stop and think if it's a good idea to risk the possible bricking of your laptop to an anonymous hacker.  No one has replied to my request, but I've upgraded to the ThinkPad Yoga - so it's a moot point for me anyway.  I'd assume that, eventually, Lenovo will release a new BIOS for the Y213 - so until then, the hot-plug solution is all there is.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Hi Guys, I just bought this laptop and I am running into problems with the crappy wireless card.  I have purchased the AC card from Amazon (the one with the FCC ID). I am getting an unauthorized notification.

Has there been any progress getting this new card working on our Y2 13's

Thanks guys.

i love this laptop, its a **bleep** shame that they didn't spend another few bucks to make it amazing.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

For wireless AC, you have two choices:

- Buy the Lenovo-branded Intel Wireless AC adapter (Lenovo P/N 04X6010, around $90)

- Use a USB wireless AC adapter (I picked up a cheap/refurb $20 Linksys AE6000 adapter that does the job)

I'd recommend the former - return the Intel adapter to Amazon and buy the Lenovo part. You're probably only spending an extra $60 to make your laptop "amazing".

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

About this A/C card. I don't seem to have a problem holding a connection with my router, so would an A/C wifi card speed up my webpage loads? Or my download top speeds?

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Both will be faster. I have a 100MB/s broadband connection but my average download speed was about 50MB/s. After upgrading to a Wireless AC router & adapter - I'm now getting the full 100MB/s that I'm paying for.

That said, if you're on a 50MB/s (or slower) Internet plan, wireless AC gear may make your Internet connection more stable; but it won't make your Internet faster.
