Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

It seems that there is new firmware available for the WiFi card that can solidify the Wifi connection issue.  I've been using it for a couple of days and it really does seems to help.

Re: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Oops, made a typo - I have a 100Mbps connection...not a 100MB/s feed. I may upgrade that to an available 250Mbps connection when prices come down, but for now I'll "settle" with 100mbps. Costs me $90/month.

Betreff: Yoga 2 13 Wireless Card Unauthorized Message

Hi,

is there any progress patching the BIOS for the non pro version.

I do have the same problem and the original card doesn't work too ... and for sure using an usb wlan isn't the solution I want to use for the next month ;-)

If there would be an alternative to the Yoga 2 .... I just would send it back

thx

Probably untill u see a bios on the official support page ther's not going to be a solution. I'm not happy with the 10mb I'm getting either cause I use to move a large files between the laptop and my NAS and my old laptop was doing 26MB. Also my collegue has a microsoft BT mouse and the wireless card is interfeering over the mouse getting it disconnected randomly so he started using a usb to ethernet adapter at the office.

Folks, there IS a solution. If you want your Yoga 2 to work with wireless AC, just buy the Lenovo-branded Intel Wireless AC adapter (Lenovo P/N 04X6010). This adapter is in the whitelist.

If the actual issue is that you don't want to buck up the $90 for the Lenovo part...then go with a cheap USB wireless AC adapter. Problem solved.

Keep in mind that the Y213 is targeted for the retail consumer - not the corporate environment. As such, they maintain a whitelist for compatibility and to help them troubleshoot customer issues. Since the adapter does both 802.xx & bluetooth, it does make sense they would want to implement a standard.

Are you sure every Yoga 2 13 will support the Intel 7260 AC version?

It might well be BIOS version related ...

My Yoga 2 13 BIOS version is 96CN19WW (V1.05) and seems to support 4 different Wifi N cards:

20200409  WIFI 2x2 BGN+BT4.0, Intel 7260BN 2x2BN+BT PCIE NGFF
20200557  WIFI 1x1 BGN+BT4.0, Cbt BCM43142 1x1BN+BT4.0 PCIE M.2
20200558  WIFI 1x1 BGN+BT4.0, Ltn HFA335 1x1BN+BT4.0 PCIE M.2
20200570  WIFI 1x1 BGN+BT4.0, Cbt RTL8723BE 1x1BN+BT4.0 PCIE M.2

The Yoga 2 Pro has only 1 supported WLAN card in the HMM

20200409  WLAN/ BT, Intel 7260BN 2x2BN+BT PCIE NGFF

This is solely the information of the HMM's....

Another Dutch owner I know tried to use the generic Intel 7260 AC card in a Yoga 2 13 with BIOS version 96CN19WW (V1.05) and it was not accepted. He had to use the "sleep procedure" while replacing the 7260N by the AC and now is not able to reboot ...

Users with BIOS version 1.09 can use the AC version, as Lenovo is now shipping this card with the latest Y2 13.

So I'm concluding we will need a BIOS update to use the 7260AC, either the Lenovo-branded Intel Wireless AC adapter (Lenovo P/N 04X6010) or the generic 7260AC.

Hi oilerlord,

I would have bought the Lenovo-branded adapter if this would be easier here in Austria to get one.

... and I do know that the Yoga 2 13 is targeted for the retail market ... and it's OK to limit the number of adapters to use to be able to troubleshoot issues esier .... but ...

They have already limited the number of adapters and even with this limited number of adapters they are not able to solve the issue with the "dead" or "disabled" Realtek wireless card.

For me this is something that can't be called customer support. It is cringe-making ... nothing more.

by the way ... I loved my ThinkPad ... years ago and IBM
