Yoga 2 13 i3 4GB Ram Users

Hi All,

Thinking of getting the Y2 13 i3/4GB from someone for a good price, I have never used an i3 based machine and wondered how this will perform with erveryday tasks (web browsing & email), I will be mainly using the machine for website development and running stock trading applications.  I would like to see what its like to read my magazines in tablet mode on this while travelling to work, Will this be okfor these tasks?

Re: Yoga 2 13 i3 4GB Ram Users

Hi,

I have bought mine from last May and I am running pack office 2013 including word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and project without any problems.

I am very impress of the quality of the screen which is perfect when I am watching HD movies on VLC media player. (Useful in the train or in the hotel). I am using also using other apps like kindle. When I am watching movies on stand mode this is OK but when I am using on tablet mode for Kindle it can takes sometime a good 5 second for the screen to be in the right position but after that this is OK.

I have installed borderland pre-sequel and the game is running on low resolution (bear in mind this is not a game laptop).

I still believe than 4GB ram is not enough and the 8GB will be the right size. The I3 is OK and I am looking to by a WIDI dongle to connect without hdmi cable my HD TV or business projector.

There is only 2 USB port (one 2.0 and one 3.0) this is not enough but I can manage.

I have installed an 500GB SSD M2 (M2 slot) and still using the original 500GB hdd, The SSD is very fast and I can boot in 10sec but this is also speedup the apps.

I am not 100% OK with the wifi, I am not losing the connection but sometime when you are not beside the router the connexion can be very slow and some time it is very good. (for example the kitchen is just beside the study room where my router is, and the connection is very slow, but is the bedroom at the opposite of the house and upstairs is just fine) ???. To be honest most of the time this is OK and I can browse website smoothly as you can expect when you are using a computer (Bear in mind that some users seems to have lot of issues with the wifi connection with the Lenovo laptop)

I hope this will answer your question

Richard

Re: Yoga 2 13 i3 4GB Ram Users

Richard,

Have you had any fan noise issues?. After 24 hours I notice the fan seems to be running full blast ALL the time. Spoke to Lenovo today they have suggested I restore the machine by using the button on the side, I will do this later as I don't have my PSU with me. A bit worrying as I have not really used the machine yet (so don't mind restoring it) but seen issues with the original Yoga 13 so not sure if this model has similar issues.

Re: Yoga 2 13 i3 4GB Ram Users

Hi,

I am using the laptop all the day and the fan is quiet most of the time, The fan is also quiet when I am watching full hd movies on full screen.

The fan can run very fast only when I  am using game in full screen which is require a lot of stress from the graphics card and the processors.

The fan can also running full blast when I am setting in bed and the cover blocked the back vent

I have got the Lenovo Enegie Manager on all the time

Re: Yoga 2 13 i3 4GB Ram Users

This small software seems to manage, controle and balance a lot seting inside the power options.

I am not sure if this can help, this is part of your lenovo sofware
