Yoga 2 13 windows 10 freezing after plugging in power cable

2015-09-24, 18:22 PM

Hi there,

Recently, I've had a problem with my Yoga 2 13 in that after I upgraded to W10, when I plug my power cable in, the screen freezes and the only way to fix it is to restart it. Is there any way I can fix this?

Thanks

Re: Yoga 2 13 windows 10 freezing after plugging in power cable

Hi there,

I have the same issue since Windows10. When I plugin my power cable Windows is freezing and the battery isn't charging. When i plugout the power cable Windows just works normally. Sometimes I have to replugin the power cable like 10 times before its just charging normally and Windows won't freeze.

First I thought my power cable is broken, I bought a new 1 but I had the same issue.

I also tried to go back to the factory reset. Windows 8 was back after that. I didn't have any issue at all. But I like Windows 10 so i upgraded back to windows 10 and I have the same issue again. (conclusion, problem is windows 10).

Is there anyway way to fix this or is there a fix coming from Lenovo?

Please give us some update here since this is kinda iritating.

Thanks in advanced

Regards,

Lindy

HI,

I have this issue with my 2 13 since 1 year now on Win 8.1 and Win 10.

Not everytime but perhaps every 1 of 10.

When hapenning I just unplug and replug 1 or 2 times and the problem goes away.

I think that it is something to do with the hardware.

For the moment, It is not  an issue because it is not hapening a lot, but if the problem increase I will use the warranty (extented waranty to 3 years)

Lenovo IdeaPad YOGA 2 13; (i3 4010U, 500GB HDD + 512GB M550 M.2 SSD, 4GB ram, Intel HD4400, 1920 x 1080, Clementine)
Lenovo Flex PC Tactile 14; (I(i3 4010U, 500GB HDD + 256GB MyDigitalSSD M.2, 8GB ram, Intel HD4000 Graphics, 1366 x 768, Grey)

I have exactly the same problem. Then I discovered that if I keep moving the mouse while plugging in the power cord freezing does not occur, and battery charging starts normally. I have also observed that when I plug in the power cord while windows is running the pc will not shut down properly (a fan inside keeps running until the battery is drained). To avoid this behavior and ensure complete shutdown, I unplug the power cable, before I shut down windows.

In windows 8.1, I had no similar problems at all.

This annoying issue is definitely a software issue and should be fixed by lenovo/microsoft.

Thanks,

Regards,

I have this problem too, but it didn't start until I upgraded to Windows 10.  I tried doing a full Windows 10 reset (so I'll now have to re-install everything) and it made no difference so don't bother.

I also have the problem that resuming from hibernate takes about 10 minutes, so it is unusuable.  Doubt this is related, but thought I'd mention it just in case.  Again, resetting Win10 made no difference.

I still have this issue. It hasn’t been resolved either by Lenovo or Microsoft. Thanks to ‘Lenoto’ for the hint that a window 10 reset do not resolve it. This is the only thing now that Lenovo customer support in Denmark can suggest in order solving the problem but now I do not need wasting my time with the futility attempt.

As a result of the power issues, I also had to turn off automatic 'sleep' function when running on battery power, because if the PC goes into sleep it cannot be awakened again without a master reset. Despite the fact that this PC is designated as Windows 10 compatible I would strongly advise against upgrading to Windows 10. The PC cannot be described as being "portable" any more after the upgrade.
