Hey y'all. My baby's sick, and I am out of ideas about what might help. I'm a hair away from giving up.
Roughly a week ago it started doing a couple small, kinda weird things. The buzzer connected to the windows button below the display started buzzing when pressure was exerted on other parts of the laptop; if I lifted it by the palm rest to the side of the trackpad, for example. The other is that I could not reduce the screen brightness. The option was unavailable in battery saver settings (win10) and the slider in the full display settings did nothing.
Maybe a full day after these symptoms appeared, it just...stopped. I used it, closed the lid, than maybe an hour later I returned to it and it did nothing. Well, next to nothing. When I press power or the lenovo button, the white light comes on, solid, for about 4 seconds, than turns off. Its not a blink, because it doesnt repeat. If its plugged in, the heatsink and fan exhaust get extremely hot very rapidly. No other response is apparent.
I've taken it apart looking for loose or broken connections, capacitors, obvious shorts, and everything looks fine.
I was going to reflash bios but it doesnt boot enough to do that....
... She's effed, isn't she?

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.
(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
